Forums - Nintendo - Does Capcom want Wii owners to buy the HD console?

I don't think Capcom games make a big influence on gamers buying habbit except maybe MH3 in Japan... Right now I don't think anyone would be like "wow RE5/DR 2... I got to buy a PS3/360 to play it!!!!!!!!"... They might be quality games but they are no system sellers

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

well they are going to make it on the system that will sell the most zombie games, its that simple...

Both their Resident Evil games on Wii broke a million, one was a light gun spin off and the other was a port of an old GC game.

Yet they still have not committed in any way to the Wii, except in Japan. I don't get it.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Yeah, it's kinda funny that Capsom supported Nintendo through its darkest days but now that they're back on top, all they've got to show for it is Zack and Wiki....

And MH3, and Spyborgs.

Woooo?

Yes, woooo!!

MH3 > Any other game they're making

True story.

You just live in your own little world, don't you, Soriku? :P

Capcom is part of a HD gamers' conspiracy? I didn't know that.

I can't help but notice that games like Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4 and Bionic Commando were (probably) green-lit before (or soon after) the Wii was released; and certainly long before most publishers accepted the Wii as being a viable platform due to its large userbase. Beyond those games Capcom doesn't have much on the horizon for HD consoles and it was inevitable that there was going to be a big game annoucment or two for the HD consoles.

@Happy Squrriel

According to your post, I'm guessing we can assume there is something for the Wii by 2010 from Capcom, then, and we might see it through E3?

The fact that Monster Hunter 3 moved to the Wii does support your post, though.

Who needs Resident Evil 5 or Dead Rising 2. They will probably make a new zombine IP just for Wii.

Improvements are caused by people who complain

Of course they want Wii owners to buy HD consoles, because that would allow Capcom to continue working from the easy, safe graphics-are-everything formula. Wii gamers demand more from a game, and while such games are cheaper to produce they require more creativity and effort.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
