[EDIT: WARNING: This thread tells about a wonderful surprise I experienced in the Valkyria Chronicles demo. It might have been less wonderful if it wasn't a surprise, so if you haven't played the game, stop reading and get the demo!]
I know, I know. The awards said, "If you are a strategy or RPG fan, own a playstation 3, and haven't bought this game, you should be ashamed of yourself." I knew I would pick it up eventually, but I've got a lot of games already on my plate and money's been tight recently, so I haven't bought it yet.
But I was a little bored last weekend and went over to the PlayStation Store and got a bunch of demos. (RE5 seemed to freeze up when it went to the ending cutscenes, but unfroze when I went to the XMB ... whatever.) Among these was Valkyria Chronicles, of course.
So I start it up and it opens with a nice cinematic where it's drawing a scene in the game's distinctive style -- first outlines, as if being penciled in by an artist, then everything is getting finishing touches and colored in and OMFG everything's moving! That was the most awesome thing I've seen since I don't even know.
The game itself is awesome of course. Now that I've gotten a taste I'll probably have to run out and get it sometime this week. But that one moment where the game literally came to life is something I may never forget -- I certainly hope I always remember that feeling.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
