Forums - General - An exercise in art.

A few of you have asked how a drawing progresses so, for the first time, I've actually photographed it (though not through the best of means) and shown the progression of my drawings every two hours.

First two hours, figuring out what the fuck I'm doing.

Second two hours, still figuring out why my hand doesn't work the way it used to.

Hitting the groove, finally realizing why that watercolor paper is giving the effect I wanted it to.

Hating myself for sucking.

The first time I finished it. Unhappy with how it turned out but that's life. I'll "finish" it several times after this point. I can never leave a piece alone until I give it away or frame it. Then that is the end.

BTW, the piece is "the kiss" scene from Rear Window. Sorry if the characters aren't recognizable. I'm pretty rusty.

Whoa, that's really good, and I mean, really good.

That might have something to do with me having no artistic talent in drawing, but wow. (It's easy to be harsh on your own stuff. That's for sure.)

Meh. I used to be better. This piece is 22" x 30". It's not all that.

But I enjoy looking at the progress (and mistakes) I made during the process of doing it. This is the first time I've ever done that. Mostly I look at the mistakes but it's still fun to watch it unfold in a three second venue.

Wow, you're a masturpaintur rocketpig.

What do you work with? Any plans to get into the gaming industry as an artist?

Don't be hard on yourself, better than most people I know... and I know a lot of art students lol

I do art for fun. It's my private sanctuary. I would never involve business with art, it taints who I am. If I ever sold a piece of art, I think I'd have to shoot myself.

On the other hand, my friends have a crapload of pretty sweet art. This particular piece is going away to a girl who I love as a friend, yet want much more. She inspired it; she was my muse for this piece. Therefore, she gets it.

Jimmy Stewart's eye was already bugging me so that's the fourth time I've "finished" the piece. At this point, I'm wondering if I can hit the magic number of ten... Never done that before.

Grace Kelly's shiner was bugging me so I tried to fix that, too. Times five.

It looked like two men until the last pic.

I'm harsh on my own art but you're a dumbass. Thanks for your contribution, Raymond Babbitt. Way to miss the point.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt and let you Google "Raymond Babbitt" for a bit. If you have anything of quality to contribute afterwards, I'll be more than happy to listen.
