thank god my elite still manage to survive. Just like everyone else suggests, I have my box separate and breathing easily just like my ps3

Gee, stick, I think this is the first time I've seen you ban a person.

Correct. I rarely ban people, because I don't want to look biased when they're Sony fanboys. Of course, with Magnific, he has had 3 bans in the past 3-4 weeks, so I felt that I had a decent bit of leverage to go ahead and get rid of him for 10 days.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
The warrior is now back from the dead, I even ran gear of war 2 (and popped some locusts heads) and rebooted it several times:

Once again, I thank everyone for helping me during this emotionally difficult time.
Man, the box was freaking hot, top and bottom, when I pulled it off the shelf.
Currently playing on PS3: God of War III
Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII
Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

The PS3 uses more power therefore it outputs more heat, so the opposite would be more likely ;)

several of the guys are correct though,
pretty much any electrical component (regardless of type) should have ample ventilation and air circulation around it. Having it sandwiched like that is def asking for trouble at some point.
I'm glad that apparrantly it wasn't a permanent problem for you. GL & good gaming

Where you went wrong was having that cable box on top of it//you were blocking the ventilation holes so the 360 couldn't breath really.
Now that you have it vertical it has some breathing room//also the most where it gets is breathing room is at the bottom of the console itself. I have my vertical though and the disks come out cold//lol
The 360 might have high failure rate but that setup didn't help. lol.
For most people's sake I hope they get a RROD three years from purchase date, and that seems more and more likely even if you got a Jasper these days. Because not having to pay anything beats paying $100 no matter the circumstance.
I know I bought my Elite when my Core 360 died and it was near three years, sold it and all the acessories and only ended up paying $100 for a elite after MS's eBay cashback promotion (which is now long dead sadly) but I'm not sure if I'll even be able to grab a new elite for cheap again in three years considering the system still sells for $399. I wish Microsoft would release black along with white arcades :\
It's just that simple.
It'll be alright, my 360 finally RROD'ed 3 weeks ago, it just arrive back Thursday so the wait isn't terrible.
I have had my 360 for almost a year, with pretty low gametime actually, around 100 hours, so is there any highrisk for me?.
No warnings so far and I dust/wacuum alot.
If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing
