Roomate brought over the Sonics Genesis collection from Rogers Video where he works... Hes still waiting for FEAR 2 (damn it) but I told him to bring this one over as well as I will most likely buy it.

Unfortunately after spending an hour with it I realized that this is as sloppy emulation job with very little effort put in bu the developer (Backbone entertainment)

Some of the issues:

- None of the games have online multiplayer modes

- There is noticable lag with some games when playing with the analog stick

- YOU CAN'T PLAY SONIC 3 & KNUCKLES!!!! Or any of those lock on sonic games, Blasphemy!

- Audio sounds worse than Genesis titles. Shitty emulation of audio I guess.

- Pretty much all of the "unlockable" extras are from the PSP and PS2 versions...such as in interviews and arcade games.

The unlockable games still are nice and include arcade versions of Alterd Beast, Golden Axe Warrior and Space harrier, and the game costs 29 bucks so it still may be worth a purchase over a rental but its still mildly disapointing for old school genesis fans like myself.

I heard an interview with the head guy doing this collection on a Retrogamer podcast. He said with genesis it's hard to emulate sound properly. He sounded like a nice guy, but it was obvious the studio he worked at wasn't grade A with a big budget.

Well that sucks. I was really looking foward to this one. 

1) the sega didn't have online, and we knew this was just an emulation, so no biggie

2) why would you want to play old genesis games with a joystick? D-pad is the way to go

3) that sucks, but I really thought it was in there

4) again sucks, but for me not a big deal, since it just needs to sound like the old ones without breaking up or complete garbage.

5) i'd rather there be no unlockables and just have all the games available to me.

6) if they had steel empire I'd buy it right away

Its not one of the unlockables for usre...they are all listed in the game right away. I guess lets wait till the game comes out...maybe there is a way to play this...

That sucks. I'll still buy it. Give a little money to Sega and VGChartz Store. It will just be an Achievement disc for me. Will continue playing emulated games on PSP.
