I guess the problem is that all the consoles are great, now the real question is which of the consoles is the greatest for you?
Considering money is an issue for you, I will focus a little on value.
Some advantages for the Wii and Xbox 360 now are that you can buy some really great games at discounted prices (Im more sure on the 360 less on the Wii but I do hear about sales and cheap games a lot) and games are your MOST significant expense. You can by a tonne of 360 games on the cheap, whilst most of the really great PS3 games are new and therefore are still quite expensive.
It looks like you will be able to purchase a Wii or Xbox 360 now rather than later, and start enjoying them. The Wii is currently the very best console to share the experience with a wide range of people, if you want to share the experience with other gamers the Xbox 360 has a good/great library of games to share with friends your own age. I even got my mom to play Castle Crashers, it was probably the greatest day of my life! JK!!! The PS3 does have games to share, but unfortunately not as many as the Xbox 360.
Another side of value are your friends, you will enjoy your games more IMO if you can share the experience with them and more importantly BORROW their games. Like I said earlier games are your biggest expense so consider what your friends have carefully. Another side of this is playing online, you do have to pay to play on the Xbox 360 and its free on the PS3, however if all your friends (or your best friends) are on Xbox Live, or PSN that should sway you because a lonely online experience is no experience you want.
One neat trick with the Xbox 360 is that you can plug it into any monitor you want (Which is what I do) and get the HD experience even if you don't have an HD TV.
Btw, the batteries in the 360 last for ages and owning both I prefer batteries because if your Sixaxis runs out of juice you have to plug the cable in to charge which is rather annoying. Also its easier to keep all your controllers juiced for when friends show up.
