Forums - Gaming - dualshock compared to the 360 controllers read on --

I vastly prefer the 360 pad because it is much more ergonomical, and the sticks and triggers are concave not convex, which makes more of a difference then you'd initially think.

Also, it seems like the 360 controller was designed to make the sticks accessible and comfortable, whereas they were an afterthought on the dualshock. (Don't hate on me for saying this, the original PS controller didn't have them, then they were tacked on later and never moved to a different/better spot.)

Everything so true.

@Finnbar

My fingers slip off the Dualshock's R2 Button as well, but I hate to shoot with R1 because it feels so good on the 360 controller so I force myself to change the controls in many PS3 games.

i find that my fingers slip off the trigger on the dualshock whenever i play a fps which usually involves me getting shot plus i find it 2 light

And I feel the gamepad is too heavy. Guess its more to do with what you are used to. I play the ps3 more so am used to the sixaxis/dualshock. The part with the aiming using the right stick is interesting though.

I prefer the dualshock, but there is certainly a degree of it being what I am used to

lol did you notice how Matt Peckhan of the PC World actually took a slight dig at gears control being maybe infrerior to Resistance 2?

Not surprising really as Resistance 2 controls like a dream.

Yeah they are good, but these are standard controls which you will find in most FPS. TPS are always a bit more difficult to control.

The placement of the sticks is why the 360 is preferred for FPS games. No-body cares about dead-zones.

Ive played on both for so long now i cant even really tell a difference.

subconciously i make adjustments.

but i had to choose one for design,id go with the dualshock 3.

Was playing Socom today on my PS3 and my new Duel Shock Controller..

All I was thinking was "I wish I could use my 360 Controller"

The Analog Sticks on the 360 are lower then the PS3's, meaning more comfort for my thumbs.

Also the 360 Analog Sticks have indents to them and gives better placement for my thumbs, as the PS3's are rounded and my thumbs just don't feel the comfort as I do with a 360's controller.

Not to mention the placement of the left Analog Stick on the 360 controller is just a no brainier.

But thats my take on my controllers, and everyone has their own take on their own controllers.

I prefer the xbox controller, concave triggers and sticks so you're fingers have better control and grip, the sticks have little dots that help you feel your way to dead front (usefull in bowling or golf games where precision is key) and the overall shape fits in your hands better.

But the Ps3 buttons are a better shape and push down better, especially the D-pad. But liked mentioned above the original controller was good, the sticks just tacked on. Funnily enough I find the six axis more accurate at measureing my movement than the wiimote does.

But when you get used to either controller you don't notice any of the problems, they work 100%

"dualshock is the analogue sticks tend to loosen up after a few weeks/months."
WRONG. mine are now 1.5 years old, still solid as rocks, and i have POUNDED it ALLOT while getting my frustration out. The winner in most reviews is the ps3 one, but i myself prefer the 360 one if its fps wich i veeeeeeeeeeeery rarely play on consoles.

2 reasons for 360 sales.

Cheap arcade version, wich the mom buys for the kids.

And microsoft's wallet.

I HATE the analog sticks and the triggers on all the Playstation controllers.
I don't know how people can keep using those triggers without getting severe hand cramps. It's the main reason why I've never bought a Playstation.
