Only demo I ever played more than once was the one for Heavenly Sword. Until today. I've played the Killzone 2 demo five times. Each experience was different, the Helghast did different things and reacted to my position with different strategies, sometimes well enough to catch me in a crossfire or kill me in melee if I had advanced too far ahead.
Killzone 2 is the best FPS I've ever played on a console. As a longtime PC gamer that has played FPS games since Wolf 3D/Doom, my biggest gripe with consoles was that they tried to imitate the 'feel' of PC shooters (in the early years because they were invariably all ports of PC shooters), making them frustrating to play because of the controller. I simply cannot get past the DualShock with FPS games. I've always needed that security blanket of the keyboard and mouse. The only console FPS I've ever played with any regularity is Unreal Tournament III on my PS3, and that's only because I have a BT keyboard and mouse to go with it. I own Resistance. Hate it.
KZ2 changed that. This is the first FPS I've played where I felt in control and wasn't looking around wildly because of that 'floating gun' feeling. It feels intuitive, and I didn't notice the 'drift' associated with Sev's inertia beyond the first minute or two of game play.
I know a lot of long time console FPS players will bemoan the controls for feeling sluggish. I think they feel perfect and level the playing field for people who haven't spent the last five years playing Halo or CoD or whatever else.
Really, my only complaint with the game is the menu. I have a big, old, 1080i Toshiba rear projection TV. Great TV, but RPTV's are known to 'snap' on occasion when an electrical arc occurs inside the cabinet and strikes the mirror. That screen tear on the menu when you move the cursor freaked me out. At first I thought my TV was about to die, then I thought maybe the convergence was going haywire and I had blown a board, or maybe there was something special about EU games that I had to tweak a setting for, then I started fretting that the bulbs were going out on my set and I was going to have to call a repairman to come replace all the bulbs and recalibrate the set.
Ah well. Glad everybody else reports the same on the menus. Killzone 2 will be a first day purchase for me.

Tifa got MOVES!
