so you think he was talking about the 1.1 Million number as a global pre-order value?

I think the figure represents global RETAILER pre-orders, yes.

Of course, it's still a damn good number, and might even go up further by release.

It will be interesting to see how it sells. The 2million budget for pr, was it for ww marketing or eu only?

oh ok - I misinterpereted the quote then. Wasn't sure why SCEE would include SCEA numbers but anyway, it makes sense now.
1.1kk worldwide ship still aint too bad though!

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

@fei: UK only.

@fei

2 million pounds for UK only : the ad budget

@makingmusic

it seems he was just talking about EU

read the article again

in the paragraph he quoted the pre-order value he was talking about SCEE

BUT this means atleast LTD sales of 1.1 Million are confirmed in EU (if not launch sales)

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I woke up early thinking yhe demo will go up at 7am. I feel very stupid now... Well I will have to take out my frustration on r2 online :p I can feel the awesomeness building up to kill in a nice long team deathmatch... Actually better not. And it goes right into discussion of the PSN, using world wide figures:

And there are some encouraging signs for SCEE, which Reeves understandably wants to focus on. While PSP and PS2 software sales have fallen (by 15% and 51% respectively), PS3 games sales are up 53% and there's a healthy 1.1m pre-order book for Killzone 2, the first of a new batch of IPs that Sony will be counting on.

Then there's the success of PlayStation Network, which overhauled the massive headstart of Xbox Live to amass 17.5 million users, 55% of all PlayStation owners, increasing revenues by 200% in 2008. When downloadable movies roll out in Pal territories later in the year, Reeves believes the PS3 will fulfil its promise as a lucrative home-entertainment system.

All in relation to SCEE from the previous paragraph.

And Killzone 2 will be big for SCEE, as it is made by an SCEE studio, so SCEE should be raking in a large portion of the revenue (assuming their revenue distribution works that way, I'm not sure exactly how they handle things).

Can't wait till this game comes out and we can see the sales! I'm excited. I'm hoping that 1.1 mil pre-orders is only EU though. I'm hoping for 1 million + worldwide week one.

Remember GT5P? Over 1 million retailer preorders, then around 450k sales. 1.1 could be worldwide too. That being said, it is an impressive number, and with still 3 weeks to go.
