Forums - Nintendo - Wii will never top the 50%! Let's discuss it!

I think it definitely will hit 50% market share (and above), but it will take a little longer than expected...i personally thought it would be at 50% a few weeks into January....Now I am guessing somewhere around September-October 2009

I started making videos for youtube; check them out.

I predict the Wii will reach 50% after E3, when they announce Zelda and all the other games they have.

- High popular games coming to HD console: RE5, SFIV, KZ2, Infamous, Halo wars, FFXIII demo and yakuza, just to name a few. No wii game could match that.

- PS3 will increase its sales in japan: 2008's been a low year for the PS3, 2009 should be much better. Yakuza 3, FFXIII and GT5 will sell tons of consoles.

- Price: wii has always been afordable, a price cut wouldn't have a big impact. The PS3 and the 360 Elite, on the other hand, could get a big boost if there were a price cut, those consoles/sku are still expensive.

- No zelda, mario or metroid this year: last year wiifit, SSMB and MK gave the console a huge boost. There's still no zelda/mario/metroid game announced for this year.

- Economic crisis: yes, once again, THE crisis! Will probably hit more the wii than the other two.

My prediction: Wii will never reach the 50% mark, could even be below 40% by the end of this year.

so true...

Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Devil May Cry 4, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Soul Calibur IV, Far Cry 2, Little Big Planet and Valkyria Chronicles all had very little (negative) impact on the Wii ...

Maybe, but there is nothing saying that Nintendo couldn't do far better in 2009 either ... After all, something as simple as releasing colored Wii systems could give it a healthy boost in Japan.

How many people who bought a videogame system in the previous generation for more than $200 don't already own a current generation console? How likely is it that someone who bought a $150 PS2 would spend $300 on a PS3, in particular how likely is it if they arer composed of the (roughly) 60% of households who don't own HDTVs?

Since the middle of 2007 there has been very little information released about most Nintendo developed Wii games until a couple of months before they are released. I wouldn't count out Nintendo releasing a big game in 2009 that we don't know much about yet ... On top of that I think you may be underestimating the impact Wii Sports: Resort and third party efforts on the Wii.

It could very well impact the Wii like how recessions and depressions typically impact low cost entertainment ... In other words, people may choose to buy Wii systems instead of spending their money on more expensive forms of entertainment.

And also, I'm going to call you out as a Sony fanboy with some skewed views of reality. People have pointed that out already though...

Yeah, it'll definetly go past 50%, it'll just take longer then I believed initially

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

People, people! Forget about this thread already!

It has been two days since this thread has been started by Tremble and not once has he bothered to show up for responses!

If I was Tremble, I would be laughing hysterically at the fact that all of you bothered to show logic at an illogical thread!

Let's just stop posting here already.

I am a Pakistani.....my name is Dan....how hard is that? (Don't ask about the 101...apparantely there are more of me out there....)

sorry but you're simply wrong, the Wii doesn't need big games to sell, it barely even needs games to sell, it will surpass the 50% easily

I'm thinking that this is Tremble's way of getting noticed. Either that or it is a horrible joke post. Arguing that the Wii won't reach 50% is becoming old. I'm pretty sure that most everyone knows that will happen this year even if they don't wish to admit it. Saying that it will could possibly fall below 40% this year would be like saying that I expect to grow 5 inches next year even though I stopped growing over ten years ago.

You  are too logic: our plan indeed is to disrupt Tremble with our illogical logic. Maxwell Smart would be proud of us.
