I thought Bastille was French for battle, not Bataille. I'll have to ask my daughter.

Bastille actually means jail or prison, if I'm not mistaken.

Bastille was the name of the prison that was attacked during the french revolution 1789, but I think it's just a name and not actually a synonym for prison.

On topic: I take this with a grain of salt. I mean, the good Tales games were amongst the best RPG's known to mankind, so changing the formula isn't necessarly a good thing. The story bits do sound interesting, what I dislike is the thing about fighting with people for money. Might be an attempt to make the gamer more of a hack and slash and therefore more accessible. This is just me thinking pessimistic though.

The Wii game sounds hot.

Another main character that will be badass? YES!

It's comments like these that make big Japanese developers hesistant to take risks.

Fuck Namco Give me a Tales game for PS3 or port fuck Vesperia you know you'll sell a nice 300k worth of copies in the first day in Japan alone

I thinks it's much easier and quicker for you to buy a 360 and later a Wii to get your precious tales games if you love them so much.  Don't blame Namco.  They made the game and released it, just becuase your being stubborn and not buying the console its on isn't their problem.   They don't care if YOU don't get to play it, only you do.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Tales needs a formula change. They're all too similar nowadays. Something different is always nice.

That's what happens when a series in any medium gets so popular(especially in its country of origins) that companies begin to milk the series.  Tales need to do something a little different.  However, FFXII pretty much proves that changing the formula can cause controversy with fans.

doesn't 360 have a warranty for 3 years on RROD?  I had a friend who bought a 360 from best buy with a 3 year warranty and within the first 2 months he was on his 7th 360.  I foudn it hilarious.  But i think he finally got a good one.  Mine hasn't had any problems yet, still workign fine.

As long as it's nothing too drastic... I still like a lot of cliched stuff in RPG's.

I'm all in for developers taking a risk, but I don't want my Wii to be home of another simplyfied game using a known brand to sell copies like, for example, Dragon Quest Swords.

Also, I don't think that there's a problem with the Japanese developers (except for the fact that they should finally release all decent games worldwide). The ones having a problem with taking risks are the western developers.

The Tales series doesn't need a formula change, it needs a focus on fewer, even better games that are marketed like they should.
