Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Can VC Games be played on another Wii?

Is it possible to put the Virtual Console games on a Wii SD Card and play them on someone else's Wii?

No

so they can only ever be stored on your own Wii's flash memory, you can't even put them on SD card to save space? What's the point of the SD card then?

For transferring saved game data.

why would you need 2gb for save game data? why would you need to put save game data on an SD card when you can't even use it from the SD card? If you want to play your save data on someone else's Wii you have to overwrite and erase their data to play yours.

What's the point of all the safe guards if you can't even put your VC games on the SD card?

I'm pretty sure you can backup your own games on the SD card to make room on the flash memory. You can't just take them over to someone's house and play them on their console because they're locked to your console. However, you can also just delete the game and its free to download anytime you want to play it again.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

well what did you think? Nintendo would just allow you to save games onto an SD card and rampantly pirate them to other Wiis? Come on.

Yes, you can save your VC games to your SD card, if you want to play them though, you need to transfer them back to the internal flash memory. The SD card is for storage and nothing else. If you want to have a lot of games without having to re-download every time, it makes sense. If you only want a couple of games, it doesn't.

okay, so how do I put my VC titles onto the SD card for storage?

Settings, Memory Management, something like that.

You can store VC games to an SD card, but you must move them back to the system memory in order to play them, and you can only ever play them on the system on which it was purchased.
