Forums - PC - By 2012 Koreans Will Get 1Gbps Broadband Connections

On another note, watch out for the 4G mobile networks in a few years if your broadband access sucks due to the area where you live.

The only question is what the latency (ping time) will be, but those networks are being designed for all-IP access so it could be good.

WHY?! why did you change your avatar?

please explain!

My laptop says 56mb/s connection speed to the internet (which is untrue, that's just the connection speed to the modem) My subscription is 7.6mb/s but it never clocks over 4mb/s and often slows down to 1.5 or even 200kb/s at it's worst. The best service you can get here in Ireland is 20mb/s but it only ever runs at around 14.

Internet is shit slow in Ireland, and cuts out alot.

Virgin Media in UK give you 'upto' 50mb.

UPTO meaning they can give you any old shit speed they want and blame your equipment when you call technical support!

But no matter how fast the internet is, you're still living in France.

They may say its goes that fast, but in the real world no one is going to get that. Mine says 7mbps and i get around 5, with the internet company slowing it down all the time whenever they feel like it, and since the internet is run in a monopoly you are screwed no matter who you get. Then you have the Japanese with 100+mbps connections only getting 40 on average.

I should get 4Mbps (Venezuela's fastest connection) but if I get 500kb/s I'm lucky

That is fast but it is not needed for the whole population. It is wasteful spending to appease Starcraft gamers.
