Not to mention it's trivial to make a new account for PSN. Add to this the fact that some people make accounts to get foriegn demos, and how people create multiple accounts to exploit/standby online (namely RFOM), and I thinks its safe to say the 2mil is well under 50% of PS3's. And before you call me a fanboy, its no different than the inflated numbers with live.

Personally, I have 4 PSN accounts, but I'm probably an exception.

Forgot about the multiple account thing. We've got 2 on ours. Which is for two seperate people but still means 1 console and only 1 purchase needed for each game.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

thats kind of a moot point because all 3 consoles have people like you with multi accounts (yes even xbox live). Plus how many actually have live accounts or use the online features of the Wii?

I don't know how many people have hopped online on the Wii.  That's a good question.

I haven't seen any receny #s but the major problem for Warhawk just might be the somewhat low PSN user rate. Back in April, there were reports that 1.3 million users had accessed the free PSN which puts less than half of the PS3 owners by that time having used it. While the %s may have increased since then but assuming they haven't, if only 50% of owners actually use the PSN, just how many of that % will buy the game? It makes a small userbase even smaller and Warhawk doesn't sound like it was all that cheap of a game to make.

umm.. at Sony's E3 they stated something around 3m online with the PS3 so.. its grown greatly.

Thanks for pointing that out so I can do the search to find out you are wrong.

SCEA president Jack Tretton said PSN has garnered nearly 2 million users since its launch, 950,000 of those in North America alone, with more than 20 million downloads from its PlayStation store.

That's still only just hovering around 50% for what everyone can freely access.

Did you even read my post? I just bolded the part you seem to have completely ignored.

Either way, this doesn't change my statement or his original argument one iota. He said was that a small portion of PS3 users would buy Warhawk since it lacks any way to play offline. Base on the 2million users, thats about 50% of PS3 owners - however multiply accounts only means that fewer than 2mil PS3's are actually online, and limits the games audience to less than 50% of PS3s userbase. Thats far from a moot point, so I dont get whats so hard to understand?

Please, learn to read, and while your at it, work on comprehension too. Oh, and why the hell did you bring up the 360 and Wii when it has nothing to do with the discussion at hand?

Wow first I switched my preorder from Lair to Warhawk because of Lair scores and now Warhawk gets a bad score. Damn this sucks

Weird. I thought both of these games looked like promising 8-9 range games, and was going to get them when I eventually get a PS3 in many, many years. I suppose I'll reconsider now, especially if Warhawk's servers are closed before then.

Lair is expected since it's been getting bad reviews all around. As for Warhawk if it got a low score soley because it's multiplayer only then it just again shows you have to read the review and not just go by the score. Fair or not some reviewers expect a console game to have a single player component.

There's two ways to express that, 1) dock the score due to only having multiplayer, or 2) don't dock the score but make sure it's very clear that the game is multiplayer only so it's not for people expecting any single player mode (say by putting that in the title or bolded in the first/last paragraphs). I prefer option 2 since people do just look at scores or average scores sometimes but many reviewers prefer option 1.

So as Wii fans have learned you have to read the review and toss out the offending parts. Such as a review that says "It's RE4, but the controls suck, I can't hit anything, I can't move, my knife comes out when I don't want it" should be read as "It's RE4" by those who can handle Wii controls. In this case I'm assuming the review is more like "It's fun and really intense action but it doesn't have any offline content and lacks different modes of play" should be read as "It's fun and really intense action" by those who are only interesting in multiplayer gaming. Again that's assuming there weren't other major issues with the game.

Yeah, good points albionus.  I think that is how PS3 owners should read the Warhawk reviews.  Like Wii owners read Wii reviews.  You should look at the content of the review, rather than just the score.

Playstation Magazine gives a PS3 game a bad score and now their biased against the system? That makes no sense at all, unless those are fanboy feelings!

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
