Forums - Sony - Killzone 2: The Comeback Kid (Fighting Killzone 1 & Media E3 05 BAshing)

Am I the only one that thinks 2005 trailer looks kinda crappy compared to actual game. Can't wait for it. Still sad for no split-screen though.

@the vagabond

you are saying what YOUR feeling were

I am talking about MOST other people who still felt the game would fail eventually....yes even they knew about the number of people that worked on the game.

too bad they didn't think bout it like you & did bash killzone 2 a lot constantly....not my problem if you don't remember that.

MOST other people? You got some statistics on that? Or just some hurt feelings by over zealous fanboys? I'm sure that's just a vocal minority. It's like routing for goliath after he squashes david and praising him as a miraculous hero that managed to pull off the impossible.

Sorry, it's just ridiculous that a game with an absolutely gigantic budget, massive team in the hundreds working on it for four years, a ton of internet hype in the form of constant movies, previews, articles, never being allowed to leave the consciousness of the internet going gamer and it's being heralded as a comeback? As a surprise "F U FANBOYS" hit? I mean it's a given that it will be of the highest quality, if it isn't then what the hell were they doing with all that money manpower and time?

If it had a budget of 10 million, struggled along, sometimes was in doubt of ever being made, had a handful of guys working on it day and night, then maybe this would be a triumph. But it's just kind of a "duh". This isn't heroic, it's just obvious.

I didn't know guerilla studios was "massive.  It's still amazing to me because I didn't expect much from it. Not all expensive games are success stories. I don't think the game was even intended to be that expensive to begin with. It was more like a "casualty" of the struggle to meet our expectations.

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Then it's your perception vs mine. Yours makes KZ2 seem like a triumphant hero, so go ahead and stick with that. The fact that there are negative topics about it doesn't mean the majority thought failure. There were just as many PS3 fans including it in every list of games that will kick all flavors of ass.

This game was bashed by media a lot, remember knife killing videos. Most previews I read were not positive, heck when Maxim reviewed it people were acting like it has more credibility than official playstation megazine. I wasn't really even excited about the game, until i saw preview code single player videos, just because of the hate that game was surround by.

Thank you OP for posting my article.. I just made thinkb3yond 2 days ago.. glad im getting recognized already.  over 3000 views in about a day hahaha.

thanks everyone

Show me the negative previews

http://ps3.ign.com/objects/748/748475.html#previews

is it the "How does this game keep getting better?" from E3 last year?
The "Yes it's real" from the year before?

The only remotely negative preview was the 2005 one. The media hyped it up as much as the fans.

Even the "Knifing" stuff was taken out of context and was a positive preview. Every hyped exclusive gets a ton of hate from fanboys, Killzone 2 was not the only one that had detractors. Halo 3 got tons of hate for looking like an original Xbox game, for being Halo 2.5, ect ect. It's not triumphant that a game this big turned out good.
