Killzone 2: The Comeback Kid
It's going on four years now since we saw that beautiful trailer back at E3 2005. The trailer that had both amazing graphics and an endless amount of action. What more could you want from a shooter? It left everyone who watched it in complete awe and you could tell that this was going to be Sony's main game this generation.
Everyone who watched could not believe this could be in game. It just had to be fake and the thing was, it was fake. The whole entire trailer was CGI which brought everyone down. We all wanted it to be in game but in the back of our minds we knew it just couldn't be real. It was only a target render of what Guerrilla Games wanted to achieve. Hearing this brought out the fanboy in a lot of people. This is when Killzone 2 started getting bashed on by people about how it will "never live up to this 2005 trailer" and how "it will be exactly like the original Killzone".
There had to be an end to the bashing. One of these days there had to be a trailer that brought us gameplay showing people that Guerrilla was serious about this. The only thing was it was missing. Missing until E3 of 2007. Guerrilla had came prepared to E3 2007 with a trailer that would either disappoint everyone or bring the company back into the limelight. It was the final moments of the Sony press conference. The moment everyone had been waiting for. And then, it hit.
Could this be real? It looked as if we were watching cutscene footage until it brought you into the game and wowed everyone. The whole trailer was gameplay footage all along. This was the real thing. This was the day Sony and Guerrilla both restored faith into all of the fans and gained believers. But there were still many people who were skeptical about everything.
Could Killzone 2 really live up to the hype? Could Guerrilla really outdo themselves this much from their past games? These were the questions that ran their minds and many were doubtful. Guerrilla gained a lot of believers but they still had many more people they had to persuade so they worked even harder to make the game look and play better before its release. Could the game possibly look better? There is only so much a PS3 can handle before frames start to drop but Guerrilla knew what they were doing.
2008 came along and Guerrilla once again came out with the big guns mostly during the end of the year. Footage and screens that would top 2007's in just about every aspect imaginable. At this point everyone was starting to get the idea that Guerrilla was really going the extra mile to redeem themselves. They really listened to a lot of the fans and a lot of the fanboys.
People didn't like the colors of the game calling it such things as "Grayzone 2". Guerrilla listened and added more color. People wanted more action? They got it. They wanted better graphics? They got it. At this point the game was looking absolutely amazing and it seemed nothing could bring it down now. The only thing coming now were the reviews.
The days were passing by slower and slower it seemed as everyone eagerly awaited for the first reviews of the game. With a game that was being hyped this much, an 8 on a major website or magazine would mean a flop to many people. Could Guerrilla actually go from Killzone 1 which was getting mediocre reviews to a sequel which could get perfect scores? The answer is...Yes.
Four long years and everything has seemed to pay off in the end. The game is being reviewed by just about everyone now and is receiving great scores. Guerrilla not only achieved creating the best graphical console game ever but also succeeded at making the game fantastic and an instant purchase for just about every shooter fan who owns a PS3.
So to everyone who bashed the game for years saying it couldn't live up to the hype and be a great game considering killzone 1 was "so bad", just remember there is a word for that which Guerrilla has shown. It is called change.

__________
to PEOPLE on vg chartz who keep on asking "WHY DO SONY FANBOYS HYPE KILLZONE 2"
This imo is your true answer.....it is your own fault for saying bad things about the game like "hahahahaha SONY just show CGI not the real thing" "hahahaha its so gray who cares bout grfx" "hahahahahaha killzone 1 was crap, guerilla is crap, killzone 2 will be crap"
YES the game got hyped....but don't for a second forget all those comments & all the odds stacked up against the game
there was more hype against the game since 2005 - late 2008
as it is in late 2008 when people in the beta said Killzone 2 delivers.....n everyone was like WTF impossible.....Gueriall have never made a good game. Then in Nov 2008 previews hit from websites n it began to sink in
The great reviews are merely an icing on this baked for a long time cherry cake!
Killzone 2 is being hyped so much as it has proved something which people felt it would never be able to prove.
