A lot people are not very satisfied with the Wii (not what they thought it was), so we'll see..."

What the hell r you talking about, you really need to stop looking at what people say on the internet and check out real life, every family i know who owns a Wii absolutely loves it, but don't count on my word on it, check out the main stream press who are always reporting on how its the family console. It is obvious the Wii is not your console of choice but you really need to try to keep to more constructive arguments, this one fails.

It was based on personal experience, talking about family (childen basically as older adults don't enjoy videogames for more than 15 minutes) and friends. None of them is really impressed by the Wii, neither I am. Not everybody thinks the Wii is fantastic outside Nintendo forums.

That was actually a very weak reply. No where did i mention that everyone has to likes the Wii, if anything i  i said it obviously is not your console of choice, what i find rather pathetic is the fact that guys like you can not look past your own interest thus lumbast anything that is not catered to you, you refuse to acknowledge or even mention the fact that if anything the satisfaction of the wii user base far outsrips the unsatified few, the charts don't lie, people do not buy the wii because its the Hype machine or because its low in stock (More bullshit FUD by the haters), they like it because it is fun and has content they enjoy, not everyone one likes Gears of war or MGS4, and it seems that is a concept you fail to grasp, and its not because you are dumb or anything, it's because you are in such denial it affecting your reality of things

My only advice is, if something that is supposed be a hobby or entertainment effects you so emotionally it affects your perception of reality, and has you covering your  eyes screaming "people who own the wii are unsatified" , then you have serious problems, and perhaps you should ease up on the hobby a little bit and try other things (just a suggesting). I have all consoles this gen, and i can say i am very satisfied with all of them especially the Wii (manyhours of family entertainment) and it actually gets more use in my household.

First all, I only said that some Nintendo fans seem to be blinded and think everybody enjoys the Wii. There is people who buy it an are not impressed at all, buy it and don't use it a lot later... Only talking about people around me (of all ages). I don't see what's so incorrect in saying this. I also was saying, as reference to that review that Nintendo are getting a dit disrespectfull with some purchasers by releasing games that are practically identical to last gen ones (not only the graphics). And was not saying anything about PS360, only making some criticisms on Nintendo.

Then the answer was out of place and your tone was rude. What was the reason in insulting me... Your assumption was wrong, and you FREAK sure don't know me. But after reading that answer I realize you're a FANATIC. Who is the one having serious problems? You're the one affected emotionally by your hobby.

Interesing after reading MY post i am the one who sound like a fanatic, ok i will bite what am i a fanatic of? all i know is i am not the one bringing in straw man arguments and dodgy anecdotal evidence into this thread. If i tell you the truth when i was writing the previous post i did not mean to sound disrespectfull, and if it has offended you my bad, i will definatly appologise for it, but how about bringing some balance into your agrument, and stop using internet memes?

Plus here is your quote earlier

"A lot people are not very satisfied with the Wii (not what they thought it was), so we'll see..."

How is the above statment about the peopel around you? its a general statemnet, face it you got caught out and i called you on it, maybe rather harshly but the proof is in the pudding. If anyone sounds like a fanatic/hater in this thread its not me!

I don’t see the fanaticism in saying that not everybody likes the Wii or that  a considerable amount of people bought expecting something great and fell deceived and/or bored (look at the charts, the best sellers are always the same because are bought by new Wii users). I don’t see the fanaticism in criticizing some of the actual Nintendo policies (GC almost direct ports, poor releases, milking, etc.) and demanding them a little more effort in recent games. I think this policy and the lack of novelty could hurt Nintendo a little in the near future of the Wii, just an opinion, as valid as any other.

On the other hand, I see the fanaticism in not accepting other’s opinions, being rude and calling them fanatics/haters. But don't mind, I suppose this is what to be found in forum discussions.

It is interesting how a "throw away" paragraph has generated so much discussion.

There is a thought that casuals will be the first to stop buying games because they are newest to it. While some take that as a slap at the Wii (and it may be), it also has some basis in basic business/economics principles -- newer customers are less loyal and more able to find substitutes.

However, another line of reasoning is that cost and affordability could be other factors. The PS3 and Xbox 360 have the most expensive games. They are primarily targeted toward a narrow demographic (typically males 15-34). And their audience is potentially more vulnerable in layoffs because many people in that core demographic may be working part-time (college students) or low on the seniority scale. Conversely, the Wii is cheaper and owned by families as well as individuals.

That paragraph aside though, the issue that game sales could slide and developers go under is a valid one.

Its interesting you totally ignored the actual reason i called you out

"A lot people are not very satisfied with the Wii (not what they thought it was), so we'll see..."

And now you are trying to change it into an argument about me not agree with your opinion LOL, i couldn't give a damn about your opinion!

I am not really going to do this back and forth so these are my last words to you.

Plenty of peoeple enjoy the Wii, you say wii users only buy the same games, but last i checked it had a higher attatch ratio than the PS3 (which is not really an insult to the PS3 because it has plenty of fantastic game, i shoould know i won one) which you seem to only have nothing but praise for funnily enough (judging from your post history). The way you post says more about your objectivity than anything else, so don't take it to heart if i stop taking you serioulsy from now on, i don't think i have anything more to say to you from now on, i can see we will never have a good discussion without one of us getting hurt or offended, so i say good day to you sir.

o.k., but what will the depression hit first?

IMHO I think the number of hard-core gamers is grossly over estimated.

A few friends and I probably own all the 360 so called "hard-core" games out there but that doesn't mean that we are hard-core gamers. How many others out there are the same?

My point is although I purchase all the "must have" 360 blockbusters within a couple days of release, when my pocket begins to feel the pinch of this recession buying new games will not be high on my priority list.

@mike_intellivision

If this recession gets any deeper at some point I guess the price of games will too come down.

Who will this hurt most? HD consoles of course. PS3/360 with wii looking games to keep down the cost of developement (exaggerated but you get the picture).

PS: Is hard-core gaming an addiction -like crack? No matter what these gamers must have their fix.

Will they spend money on a game rather than food to stay alive?

hmmm...the sad part is when it hits the wii it will hit everything else as well and the post hit wii numbers might even be half, but that still is more then teh other guys will be moving

This argument is so weird, because its talking about past and current events and basically saying they may play out differently when they happen, as if they are something in the future.

The recession has hit. Despite record revenue, a lot of the gaming industry is in a panic. Some folks I guess haven't been paying attention, but EA, Take-2, Sony, THQ and others are in deep trouble, not to mention all the independant developers in danger of closing shop. And companies like Activision and Microsoft, which still look pretty solid, suddenly look less solid then just a few months ago.

Nintendo dropped their profit forecast because Japan is in an all-out gaming decline, which they have failed to address. And they have a major problem with the strong Yen, and their revenue being driven by high price items like Wii, Wii Fit and DS, in America and Europe. But compared to most of the industry, they're sitting pretty right now.

So some are still trying to say "the recession will hit the Wii first," when the recession has already hit everyone, and Nintendo is in one of the best positions of all.

And really, the "recession" is just the net result of bad decisions. The gaming companies in decline right now made bad decisions, and the cascade of the recession makes the impact of those decisions hit sooner.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

yep brilliant deduction, the recession will hit a cheap console that is selling like mad before hitting a expensive one that is not selling so well.

and his basis, because the Wii are casuals who will not buy their 2-3 games per year, while the hardcore will continue buying 2-3 games per month.

edit: and also we have been in a recession for so long and getting worse always it seems, but it is supposed to start going back uphill by end of this year, yet he expects it all of suddent to wack the wii in the face when it hasn't affected it at all yet.

Hang on. Sony sells less consoles on all 3 platforms over Christmas compared to last year and somehow the Wii will get hit first?

Does not compute.
