| Zim said: FFX-2. Nothing else even comes close. There is so much wrong with that game it's incredible. What worries me is they blatantly made it because FFX was extremely expensive and they wanted more profit. Now FF13 is going to be far more expensive and on a system with a far smaller userbase. I imagine thats why there are all those side projects announced. Some of the major points wrong with FFX-2. The opening cinematic makes me cringe and feel embarassed, it's horrific. The running animation for Yuna actually makes me laugh, it is just ridiculous. Dress spheres. Story. Characters. Pretty much everything. Seriously with a FF game you expect a good story with awesome characters. Not a J-pop game made for ganguro girls. Oh and also FF8 is my favourite FF. I just love the characters and story. Oh and yes I would agree that FF6 looks better than FF7. Good 2d beats bad 3d any day. FF7 was great for it's day but now it looks horrid, even the Fmvs do. The biggest problem I have is how it's so blatant that the blocky characters wasn't a stylistic choice, go into battle and all of a sudden everyone is far more realistic. Still a fantastic game though, just graphically horrid. A game I haven't seen anyone mention is Heroes of might and magic 4. I guess if you weren't a fan of the franchise you wouldn't get it. I spent a huge amount of time playing Heroes 1-3 with friends. 4 came out played it for a few days and stopped. It was pretty damn awful. And my god that game has some of the worst character design i've ever seen. I will also add Medival total war. Not entirely sure why. I loved shogun total war but hated medival. They are so similar it seems strange. I think it was just the introduction of catapults etc. I loved shogun because it was so simple yet good tactics good massively affect a battle. By using the terrain right you could easily beat an army twice as big. Medival kinda removed some of the simplicity by adding things to the game. |
Heroes of Might and Magic is a classic, one which I've spent countless hours with both in single player scenarios and hotseat games! Heroes 3 is technically best imo, but Heroes 2 is most the fun! Number 4 had some good ideas, like the purchasing of units from external dwellings by way of caravans and such, but there were way too few units and the maps are tedious. Also, it's a bit too easy, even on hard settings, especially for someone who played all three prequels for years and knows a few "tricks".
