Forums - Gaming - Which are the worst/most disappointing games you've played, and why?

FFX-2. Nothing else even comes close. There is so much wrong with that game it's incredible. What worries me is they blatantly made it because FFX was extremely expensive and they wanted more profit. Now FF13 is going to be far more expensive and on a system with a far smaller userbase. I imagine thats why there are all those side projects announced.

Some of the major points wrong with FFX-2.
The opening cinematic makes me cringe and feel embarassed, it's horrific.
The running animation for Yuna actually makes me laugh, it is just ridiculous.
Dress spheres.
Story.
Characters.
Pretty much everything.

Seriously with a FF game you expect a good story with awesome characters. Not a J-pop game made for ganguro girls.

Oh and also FF8 is my favourite FF. I just love the characters and story.

Oh and yes I would agree that FF6 looks better than FF7. Good 2d beats bad 3d any day. FF7 was great for it's day but now it looks horrid, even the Fmvs do. The biggest problem I have is how it's so blatant that the blocky characters wasn't a stylistic choice, go into battle and all of a sudden everyone is far more realistic. Still a fantastic game though, just graphically horrid.

A game I haven't seen anyone mention is Heroes of might and magic 4. I guess if you weren't a fan of the franchise you wouldn't get it.
I spent a huge amount of time playing Heroes 1-3 with friends. 4 came out played it for a few days and stopped. It was pretty damn awful. And my god that game has some of the worst character design i've ever seen.

I will also add Medival total war. Not entirely sure why. I loved shogun total war but hated medival. They are so similar it seems strange. I think it was just the introduction of catapults etc. I loved shogun because it was so simple yet good tactics good massively affect a battle. By using the terrain right you could easily beat an army twice as big. Medival kinda removed some of the simplicity by adding things to the game.

Heroes of Might and Magic is a classic, one which I've spent countless hours with both in single player scenarios and hotseat games! Heroes 3 is technically best imo, but Heroes 2 is most the fun!  Number 4 had some good ideas, like the purchasing of units from external dwellings by way of caravans and such, but there were way too few units and the maps are tedious. Also, it's a bit too easy, even on hard settings, especially for someone who played all three prequels for years and knows a few "tricks".

ok but as far has mucho hype, lets advertise the launch of a console with this game, biggest disappointment ever - we all agree that it is Red Steel, no?

The games I think are the most disappointing are clearly FF8,Twilight Princess and Kingdom hearts 2. I did not finish Kingdom Hearts 2 completly but I hope I do some day but I hated the game. I know many people like kingdom hearts 2 but the story was to slow and the game was really too easy for me to enjoy. I really liked the first game it was cool and kind of unique game. Dont remember how far I came.

After releasing the two greatest final fantasy games they release a game like ff8? The story was ok but the battle system was disaster with junction system and you needed items to upgrade your weapons and on. The game lacked in every way if you compare it with FFVI and FFVII. The game had so much potential I can confess that FFX-2 is worse but I knew before it came out that FFX-2 would be bad. Its the third time I am trying to finish the game I am on disc 3 played 50hours.

The problem with Twilight Princess were that I heard too much about the game everyone said that it was better then Ocarina of time I even remember Miyamoto saying that. He lied ...Ocarina of time brought new good stuff to the serie. The music was not as good, the graphics were almost ok, the gameplay lacked with the Wiimote. I liked the story and the shapeshifting and that is all. I tried playing the game with gamecube it was a little better but still too much lacked from the game. The serie is heading down with Final Fantasy. I have finished tha game

Red Steel made short work of my patience when I tried it at my friends house... so yes! We agree (at least I do..). Wii sports was 100 times better, and that was bundled!

Personal I thought Red Steel was a great game.

I am with yojimbo on the FFVIII thing. Total garbage

IMO, biggest disappointment is Shenmue. I had been awaiting for it for a long time (forever it seemed to me). The day i put it in my Dreamcast, i felt this game was not for me.

Apart OOT (in good), this is my greatest (in bad) feeling in gaming ...

Some games that i do not like at all are.

Sentinel returns. ( i didnt get what to do)
Unlimited saga. ( i idnt like how its played, the battles are all like a roulette wheel)
Dark cloud. ( you die if you don't drink water for a short period of time and your weapons break fast.)
Emphermal fantasia. ( it doesn't interest me)

Zim said it best- FFX2.

I was ecstatic to get a direct sequel to a FF game, until I played it and was stuck with a game that played like a slumber party gone awry.

I also hated final fantasy 7 and 8, i thought they were boring.

Man, I finished FFVII on the PS1, and I had a massive woody for another Square RPG. I went out and bought SaGa Frontier..... I should have also bought a bullet to put through my head.

Wrestlemania for the Nes was the first game I bought with my own money. I was about 8 years old, and my mom put the game on lay-away. I was doing yard work and washing dishes and stuff trying to raise the money for that game. I'd go to bed at night and dream about Hulk Hogan taking out The Macho Man with his leg drop. It took me about a month to finally save up the money. It took me about 5 minutes to learn the definition of a SHITTY GAME. How the hell did Acclaim release a "Wresling" game with only 3 moves per character? Sony wants to make game that can make gamers cry? I PLAYED THAT GAME 20 YEARS AGO. It's called Wrestlemania.
