Can't say I tried that one, but Starfox on N64 was decent though, right?

Ya...loved the N64 one, never tried the GC one, but the DS one was garbage IMHO. I hope they save this franchise on the Wii
Super Mario Sunshine
Star Fox Adventures
That other GC Star Fox game

Doom3 - Enough said. This game was a huge letdown in every way. I hated that flashlight/weapon switch within 15 minutes of the beginning of the game.
Metroid: Prime - Not a bad game, it's actually quite good but I never wanted to see Metroid as an FPS and I never will.
FFVIII - I enjoyed collecting the cards in-game and gambling with them. Eveything else sucked. I don't even remember if I made it halfway through the game (probably did, but it left no impression on me).
Majora's Mask - Any game looks bad when it's the follow-up to OoT.

MGS2 - When you spend half your time in the game killing your character over and over again because you hate him SOOOOO MUCH is never good for gameplay. |
Metroid: Prime and Majora's Mask? Wow...definitely can't agree with those...I loved both of those games. Each took their respective franchise in a new and unexpected direction, and I thoroughly enjoyed them both. Now, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is a different story....
Mother 3. aka Earthbound 3.
My quote:
-------------------------
I've played Mother 3 but it was a failure. It's got no captivating story. Characters were uninteresting. The game system felt nothing but half-baked RPG. The ending was fairly predictable.
Mother 2 was interesting because it was radically different from traditional RPGs like DQ series. They just ditched the whole serious RPG system, and focused more on its storyline and humor. That's what made it so fresh and fun. Less traditional RPG aspects, but with an interesting story and a lot of interesting characters = Success.
Mother 3 was different. It tried to deepen its traditional RPG aspects (combat system etc), but ended up with being a mediocre RPG compared with DQ and FF because they didn't want to make it overly difficult at the same time. It's become a half-baked mediocre RPG with an uninteresting story and characters.
-------------------------
Pretty harsh but my disappointment doesn't really tell much about how good/bad the game is. How much you get disappointed is a function of your prior expectation. I had an overly high expectation, for I really liked the prequel.

I admitted MP was a good game but it's not the direction I wanted Metroid to go. That one is entirely personal preference.
MM is only disappointing when it's the follow-up to OoT. It's a good game but disappointed me since I really wanted to see something more in line with OoT.Â

Was Earthbound (the US game) actually Mother 2? Or was it the original Mother? I'm not very knowledgeable about that series...and also, wasn't Mother 3 a Japan-only release? Did they have an English version of that game? Does Mother 3 have anything to do with the canceled Mother project for the N64? (or 64DD)
@CADMBFan
I'm Japanese so I played JPN versions of both and don't know much about Earthbound. M3 probably inherited a lot from the canned, but I don't know the detail. What's important to me is that it just didnt do it for me. Whenever I read about American/Euro gamers wanting Mother 3 in English, I always feel bad about it.
