Sony gave an interview to Eurogamers? I mean, that is for serious...?

wat? By the way my logic is not failed, in fact I've been right more often that not with this logic. Of course it's just my opinion, but I think anyone can guess that seeing as I'm just a mortal man.

opinion yet you present it as a fact or something very likely to happen. As for the second part of your post stating the price was coming down too fast, consider the PS2 and also consider the Xbox 360.
PS2 launch price on October 26, 2000 was US$300. 30 months later approx. May 2003, it was US$180, that's 40% off the launch price for a system that had laughable competition at best.
Xbox 360 launch price was $400/$300 Novermber 2005. 35 months later approx. October 27 2008 and present it is $300/$200(and elite $350) that's only 25%/33% off the launch price in such a long time.
PS3 on the other hand, launched at $600/$500, currently stands at $400/$500, with real cut happening just 11 months (October 2007) after it launched for 17%/20% off the launch prices.
With the PS3 entering its 3rd year, why could by any logic be considered "too fast" if by, let's say JUNE 2009, the prices were cut $100 more to make it $300/$400 making that way 40% / 33% off the launch price after 30 MONTHS just as the PS2 was relatively priced before!
I'm not saying it would be right, or convenient or wrong or possible, whatever. But don't come to me with your logic telling me about "fast" and "forget about price cut" like it's some kind of ridiculous far-fetched idea.

They were able to cut the price of the PS2 because it was already making significant profits.
Sony need sto start making money on the ps3...lots of it. Nothing mroe to say on that, then the fact that lowering production cost, then lowering price, would put you right back where you started.

You think they don't know that?
uuuuuhh........who says it still won't have a price cut? It can have a price cut and still remain the most expensive console. If it a $100 price cut for example, it'll still be the most expensive console out there
there are positive sides to look at people:P
well duh
Not the smartest plan while in a global recession..........but whatever floats ur boat :p

true. But there are other reasons to cut prices ie.: X360 price cut. I don't know when it'll be "good" for Sony to cut it down, but I'm sure for better or for worse, we'll see it this year, no doubt about it. Sony is reducing costs and will need to catch up on market share. They haven't cut the price already 'cause the PS3 was damn expensive to develop/produce and it was in deep trouble since launch, hence the premature price cut October 2007. They forcast 10 million for their 2008 fiscal year. If right now people can buy stand alone blu-ray players and blu-ray roms as low $150 (blu-ray roms for as low as $80 and that's retail price) that means a reasonable cut for one of the most important parts of the PS3, and they have shrunk the CPU which should be heading into mass production as of now. A signifcant price-cut is in order sooner rather than later this year, I'd bet Q3.

I presented my opinion, which is that it's very likely there isn't a price cut this year. It's just an opinion, deal with it. And most of all don't start suddenly insulting people please.
Btw, it's quite ironic that later you said:
I rest my case.
Regarding the price, notice I was talking about Europe (where I live). The situation is not the same as in USA.
