All he's doing is bragging about the success of the DS and using the DS as "Nintendo Hardware".

The Nintendo DS' ability to move 3rd party software has never been questioned.

This is just like Sony or it's fans thinking they did something good that one time the PS2 and PS3 combined outsold the Wii.

Read the article much?  18 third-party titles broke a million on Wii in 2008.

Oh, I read the article, and it's nothing but spin.

Let me ask this: Where those 18 million sellers on the Wii more than any other console? And, more importantly, what about total 3rd party software sales? Where these greater than any non Nintendo console? It looks to me like he's comparing Wii+DS, which is about a 150m install base, to consoles like the 360 or the PS3. That's the vibe I got from this article.

Yes, they were for the bolded part.... although I can't say so for the number of million sellers in 2008 because I don't know.... I would suspect the X360 had more 3rd party million sellers in the same time period, but none of us have any idea... in truth Nintendo likely don't know either without resorting to compiling random trackers like NPD, Chart-Track etc (or using VgChartz, but I doubt they do)

Woah, slowww down there, tiger.  First of all yes, he did say that third parties sold more on 'Nintendo hardware' than on other platforms.  You're right.  He ALSO said that 18 TP games broke a million on Wii this year.  That statement has NOTHING to do with DS.

Second, think about the argument you're trying to make: "Third parties don't sell on Wii because they sometimes sell better on other platforms."

There's so much bull there that I don't even know where to begin.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

WTF are you talking about? The DS was never hated on by anyone other than PSP noobs that were just getting into handhelds because of the PSP. The DS, unlike the Wii, had great support from the start. The PSP had anything more than ports and remakes it's entire life time. For that, it recieved far more hate and bashing than the DS ever did. The PSP had to put up with way more shit than DS ever did.

Very similar to the Wii, the DS had horrible third-party 'games' for the first two to three years of its' life.  It launched with:

Asphalt Urban GT
Feel the Magic: XY/XX
Madden NFL 2005
Metroid Prime: Hunters (demo bundled with the DS)
Mr. Driller Drill Spirits
Ping Pals
Rayman DS
Ridge Racer DS
Spider-Man 2
Super Mario 64 DS
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005
The Urbz: Sims in the City

Out of that list, the bolded were the only games that had any definition of quality.  Guess who made them?  Even as a die-hard Nintendo fan, the only game I had for my DS for at least a year was Mario 64--other than that, it was all licensed crap, stupid minigames, and the odd sports and racing title.  Sound familiar?

I don't get why the whole outselling Nintendo 2 months in a row is a good thing.

Why is that supposed to be a plus? That most of the time Nitnendo are outselling the other 10+ publishers all fighting for less then 50% of the market? :/.

Aside from that it didn't tell us much we didn't know.

That is not what the article says, it says Nintendo platforms sold more third party software than the competing platforms. In my opinion the article is a bit unclear, but after NPD Nintendo clearly stated Wii sold more third party software in November and December than any other home console.

Destiny your totally right, the DS wasn't hated and had tuns of support from the get go - from Nintendo.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

This is useless, the general discussion is about the Wii and he mentioned the Wii and DS together. Obviously if the Wii could stand on its own it would have been compared individually to other individual platforms, well at least thats my own take of it.

Tease.

Oops, my bad.

Albeit, that's still a pretty iffy thing if you think third parties can just regard PS360 as one platform, and maybe throw PC in for the hell of it.

Either way, it doesn't seem like much new.
