The only real Halo killer could be Bungie developers getting tired of it, but after that it could sell very well another chapter on the sole force of its fame.
I don't find it so special, but millions gamers do, there's no accounting for tastes.

If Killzone 2 can sell 3.5 Million in it's first week like Halo 3, then possibly.

You seem to forget that most people prefer playing Halo 3 still, especially for the awesome/funny random stuff that can happen in just one multiplayer match! =P
Counter Strike guys can go play CoD4 for all I care. This game is so much for the elitists... >_>
Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

To a certain extent, the sales speak for themselves. To sate my curiousity, I'm starting a thread to determine which is prefered by VGChrtz users that have played both serieses

Stupid thread is stupid. Resistance has more in common with Halo than Killzone. Resitance and Halo = Arcadey shooters.
| NinjaKido said: In terms of Sales most likely not , the PS3 just hasn't got the install base to support such a high level of sales unless the attach rate becomes super high. In terms of critical acclaim , maybe Killzone 2 obviously beats H3 in the graphics department ... the reviews seem to indicate that K2 could kill H3 in the gameplay department too. Wether or not it kills Halo 3 is still down to personal opinion , I can't imagine an XBOT admitting to anything near that. |
I'm not sure the install base argument works. I mean look at the first Xbox's install base and the number of copies Halo/Halo 2 each sold. I do not believe any shooter on the PS2 came close to those sales numbers even though it's install base was way beyond the first Xbox.
As for it being a Halo killer, sales wise, very doubtful. As for the game itself, I guess it would be personal preferences; however I dont' think you can label it a Halo killer without sales to match. This term is way over used anyway. Killzone 2 looks like it could be very successful, I guess only time will tell.
Ok I've asked this question before and didn't get an answer so I'll ask again.
What exactly is the definition of a "Halo killer"?
One way it could kill it, is by stealing it's players but then Killzone would have to be able to physically destroy xboxs and reward those xbox fans with free Ps3's. I cannot confirm that Killzone 2 has that kind of power. The other way it would kill it if it were to outsell it (although I still don't see this as killing it). For Killzone 2 to sell 10m+ copies the majority of Ps3 owners would have to buy it, more than 50%. And when was the last time that happened in any generation of sony's consoles? Did Gta:ViceCity sell 50m+ copies on the Ps2? Rofl

Killzone 2 has yet to live up to the performance of COD IV on a single platform. Once that is done people might be able to use Killzone and Halo in the same sentence. Until then its all speculation and BS.
Tease.
