Forums - General - Excercising at home

Do you guys excercise at home? I'm doing a little survey about health and figured that asking gamers like myself on this forum would be a interesting idea.

If you could, then please jot down how often you train, with what, when, has playing video games made you reluctant to train. Additionaly, if you don't train i would also like to know why.

As for me, i decided to train for the sake of losing some 11 pounds (more or less). Right now i weigh some 80 kilos (196 pounds i think) at 172 cm ( 5f 9in)of height, so obviously that's a little too much.

I train mostly after i wake up and before i go to sleep by doing pushups and crunches, about 200 each daily. I also use wii fit for (fake) jogging for about an hour. I must say that i am having trouble losing weight but it's because that i sometimes abandon my training for a week or so (usually when i have a magnitude of work to do for my studies) and i'm not a stranger to beer and fast foods.

How about you guys?

Yes.

I used to lift weights with free weights and a bench, but I haven't since I moved out of my parents.

Currently, I have my bicycle set up in my apartment and use that while playing videogames (typically SSFIITurboHDRemix) for 30 minutes every other day.

I have a few free weights (3, 5, 10, 15, & 20lb) that I use to exercise my arms. I typically use those on days I don't ride my bike. I Mostly bicep, tricep, shoulder, back and chest.

Other than that my story sounds very similar to yours. Currently I'm 200lb at 5'10", which I should really be around 175lb. I was down to 185, but I packed on the weight over thanksgiving and Christmas.

I also use Wii Fit to track my weight, and use it to force me to do slow push-ups and crunches.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

No I like to exercise in the gym , it's more motivational knowing your friends are nearby and the guy on the treadmill is run at a speed and distance you could only dream of.

Well i normally would go for a regular jogging session but since it's winter i don't. Usually I would run for some 8 miles and later go bike riding for 15 miles. Works like a charm i tell you.

I do strength training every day using two 25 pound weights. I alternate between rowing, curling, pressing and doing squats. I aim for 10 reps a set (30 for squats) and at least 10 sets. I try to train in the mornings but sometimes I have to do so in the evening. Playing video games has not effected my weight lifting, in fact, my weight lifting has reduced the time I spend playing video games. In 2008 I went from 275 pounds and 40" to 240 and 36" and I hope to repeat this again in 2009.

Yeah I exercise every day. My girlfriend is pretty popular among other guys and she's a profesional dancer, so I try to keep as fit as possible.

No....

I never thought on loosing weight....I'm very healthy i think....

Wii Fit just to do something Mon-Fri, 3lb weights mostly for endurance. Neither for too long to feel like a chore.
Main keeping-in-shape training is fencing on weekends.

Not at home. Though I do go to the gym three times a week and am pretty big into health and exercise. Video games has probably had no effect on that.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
