Forums - Nintendo - Overlord: Dark Legend interview

http://www.videogamer.com/wii/overlord_dark_legend/preview-1467.html

The guy sounds really passionate about making a good game, so that sounds pretty good.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

I'm a sucker for *most* good games on Wii. If it appeals to my taste (which is varied) and gets a average score of at least an 8, I'm buying. This game looks great and I'm looking forward to reviews, lol. I've never seen this series before so I'm skeptical, but it does look promising.

I skimmed through the article and didn't see a mention of a release date. Anybody have any idea when we're getting it?

At the very end it says they aer releasing in the summer but that's as specific as they get.

Looks good.  I'll definately consider getting this game.   Havn't play it or Pikmin before so not sure which if either or both I should get.

Wow, this is really a great interview. It looks like they went with the "High Voltage Approach", and they seem really passionate about developing for the Wii.

Something to look out for.

That was a fun read. Lines like this had me giggling all the way through:

"And anyway, there's no 'save as Nintendo Wii' command on our magic game-making machine."

"Sort of a heat-seeking, suicide bomber with sharp teeth and bad breath. It's great fun. It'll bring people together, through a minion being blown apart."

The art looks great in this game. I have my eye on it.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

Great interview, I liked this part:

"The core gameplay is Overlord as they know it. There's always the temptation with Wii games to stick big heads in, cel-shade it, and make it a mini-game collection. But we wanted to make a hardcore Overlord game. We weren't going to sell out what made the first game cool because there is this perceived wisdom of what Wii gamers want. I'm a Wii gamer: I don't want Wii Sports again. I've got that. It was with the console. I want something new and interesting, and something that's going to appeal to me as a gamer. And I don't think I'm alone in that. I hope I'm not anyway."

I didn't knew much about this game before that, I'm interested now. When will it be released?
