Forums - Gaming - My Problem With IGN

....I see that many of you just ignored my first paragraph and instantly accused me of saying IGN is Biased. When I was merely pointing out that some of the things they do just rubs me the wrong way and in the case of MGST why would they want everything to be the same? where is the unique identity that we saw the last few gens

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Now I dont want to go accusing IGN of being Biased because frankly for the most part they are not Biased. In fact I think they are one of the most trustworthy game sites around. But every so often they do little things that could be considered Biased or just playing head scratching sometimes that I have to go Why the fuck would they do that?

Recently A few problems I had with them included

Finally realizing that they Just Re-Hash and all reviews that are multiplat. IE doing a review for only one version of the Game then putting the same review on the other consoles as well. I know have to go to the Head-To-Head compairsions to see which version is superior.

Another gripe with them came when Kojima Productions started to tease MGST and one of the lines on the IGn speculation train was that it might come to the 360 and that they were Hoping that it would. This annoyed me because I have always thought that exclusives helped define the identity and multiplats dont really help distinguish consoles from each other and the fact that IGN wants one of the greatest PS3 games to become multiplat seems to me that they dont want our consoles to distinguish themselves from each other.

My last gripe with IGN comes in the form of IGN always putting their game articles for Multiplat games under the X360 heading, case in point the discussion of FFXIII's new trailer. Now I can understand putting gaming articles under the 360 heading when the game uses the 360 as the lead platform but when the game was announced originally as a PS3 exclusive and using the hardware as its lead platform It should be under the PS3 heading or at least under both.

I know it sounds fanboyish and It probably is but its just something I need to get of my chance

/Rant Over PEACE

That's my biggest issue with IGN. Big multiplat game articles are shown more on the Xbox360 section and not at all on the PS3.

This was the heading of that FFXIII article on the 'home page'

X360: New trailer shows off eye-popping visuals for the series' high-def debut."

didnt even mention PS3 on there, in fact you wont see that article on the PS3 section.  I dislike how a multiplat game links goes straight to the Xbox360 section, they could at least give the option to choose Xbox360 or PS3 section.

This situation has occurred before with GTA VI, DMC4.

They're not perfect, but I like IGN. They're definitely better then any of the other major review sites imo.

Plus they have Chobot, so that's an instant win.

Oh noez! Jessica Chobot is rubbing her butt with a Gears of War magazine. IGN is biased against the 360!

Oh noez! Mario is hitting that! IGN is favoring the Wii!

Well IGN, like most "gaming press," consider themselves "hardcore," and they think they know what's good and that they're smarter than us. From their point of view, the PS3 priced itself out of the market and the Wii casualized itself out of the market, so the 360 is the only reasonable hardcore system left. So any multiplat game previews and reviews and trailers will be in their 360 section because the way they see it, the 360 section is the primary section. This also explains why they really really hope more PS3 exclusives come to the 360.

Also, fuck IGN.

Chobot is hot If They gave her away with a 360 I would buy one in a heartbeat

This isn't going to shake your feelings any, but she does work for Microsoft. She does these quick strategy tips for games that you can watch on the 360. So if you buy a 360, you'll get more Chobot!

The 360 thing is annoying for me as well but I go directly to the page I'm looking for in the URL. I like IGN but they have a few quirks.
