Bioshock is, from the reviews, an awesome game.
Its lost the top spot on GR and Metacritc (which it held for a couple of days) slipping below Zelda OoT again. Looking at IGN (9.7) and Gamespot (9.0) Im pretty sure it will be awesome.

Metroid will be too, but its almost certain that it wont review as well as Bioshock.

I can almost guarantee Metroid wont beat Bioshock. Bioshock is an awesome game and the effort really made the game come together. I can't really see any game in the near future coming anywhere near Bioshock for a long time. But I am thinking fun factor in terms of buying. Metroid is out in a week and I have a feeling it will be more fun for me. Not Mario Kart fun but close. The order right now goes like this for me:

Mario Kart>Metroid>Mass Effect>Halo3>Galaxy>Bioshock>Brawl.

Like I said in another thread...

He complains about the game "hitching" after playing it for several hours. This is something no other review has mentioned, and it sounds a lot like a 360 on its last legs.

Greg Kasivan was gamespots only good reviewer

Gotta love Gamespot. I used to like their site, but now it's all... bitter, and full of ads.

Everyone gives Bioshock 10's and high 9's... and they give it a plain 9. Everyone gives Twilight Princess high 9's... and they give it 8.8... and they rate the GC version higher, even when it's the same exact game and it was clearly said it was a direct port...

Didn't remember this at first, but this means another thing... Ocarina of Time is still the king

The more I think about it, the more I think 9 is a very fair score for the game. Or mid-9's. Still very good.

I don't mind the review *if and only if* they didn't heavily weigh the in-game hitching problem into the rating.

I've read every Bioshock review I can find and not a single other reviewer has even mentioned any kind of slowdown or hitching. Hopefully Gamespot didn't put too much stock into a bad 360 or a bad disc. A friend of mine bought Crackdown and was furious after playing it for six hours and finding that one entire section of the city was unplayable because the game failed to load textures and glitched constantly.

After testing it in my 360 and replacing the disc, we discovered that his old CD disc had a corrupted section out of the box (the disc looked perfect). Stuff like that happens and they need to do a little trouble-shooting before knocking a game for something like that, especially after reading "after a few hours it started hitching". That sounds like a bad console to me.

Jesus, I didn't think Jeff Gerstmann would set himself up for this much fan hate until Zelda Wii rolled around. Nice to see that he's keeping his infamousy. I think there may still be a few Jaba the Gerstmann pictures floating around the net from the Twilight Princess incident...

I agreed with ItsaMii, they give 9 to PD zero and then 9 for bioshock. Come on. If PDZ is a game of 9, Bioshock must be a game of 11 or something like that

And people are complaining about a getting a 9.0. I would more like be complaining overall about games scoring too high. I'm not saying that Bioshock wouldn't deserve the high ratings it got, but generally it's starting to look like that for some reviewers, their scale is 9.0-10.0. Meaning that if the game doesn't score at least nine, it's crap.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Dunno, a 9 is a good score.

I've just watched some actual gameplay vids on gametrailers - Bioshock is WAY too violent for me. The trailer had me interested, but I hate brutal games. I did like what I heard about the story and atmosphere, but why does it have to come down to "smash screaming women's head using your club with nails" in the end? I'd never, ever play a game like that.

Just my opinion, of course, but I am a bit disappointed that Bioshock falls into that category. With such a promising setting and artwork, why couldn't they make it more of an action adventure instead?
