Forums - Gaming - Capcom's predictions for RE5 sales (ZOMG what do they smoke???)

I don't think I'm gonna bother picking up this game, it doesn't really interest me. Re4 was good but went downhill as I played it.

But I'm sure it'll easily pass the 5m mark, it's a strong franchise, it's multiplat, looks good and it's got coop! It appeals to loads of people, all the casual gaming Ps360 owners will pick it up.

If they quoted this to their investors, sounds like they're gonna be the second developper who will have to cut their earning forcasts due to "lower than expected" sales

Between 3 platforms, RE4 sold mre than 6 mil so far.

I think it is not that far fetched to assume it can do 5 mil lifetime on PS3 and 360.

ould see 6m worldwide lifetime. As has been stated, RE4 did well on PS2 and GC and was still fresh enough to do well on Wii as a motion enhanced port.

The question is how the series will do on Xbox platforms, as its never actually been on Xbox platforms.

GC RE4 did 222k in Japan. PS3/360 RE5 in Japan should be 300k/100k at least lifetime. Preorders suggest the PS3 will have a bigger opening than the GC version in Japan.

A valid question to ask, but it was equally applicable to GTA4 and we all know how well that's done on 360.  RE5 won't do those kind of numbers, but I think it will make plenty of money nonetheless.

Um actually 5 million worldwide split between both the ps3 and 360 is not crazy at all. I could understand if they were saying per system but that means it would only have to hit 2.5 million per system. I'm not sure if it will make that but it is not near as crazy as your making it out to be. Its been adapted for western audiences and will probably do pretty damn big numbers on 360.

no kidding what is that dude smoking? It was recently announced that Bungie pays their employees the second highest of ALL video game developers, and just look at Gears 2's sales for Epic. A company can make only HD and succeed very, very well.

6 million is a lot, but 4-5 million should be doable.

500k in Japan is out of the question though.

I've tried the demo, and I'm not feeling this game much...what's with the firing system??? HUH?
