Forums - Gaming - Whats the Best JRPG Company?

In the PS1 and PS2 era Square-Soft Owned JRPG they defined JRPG but then I dont know the Merger just sent the quality of their games to hell. I mean as Much as I loved it I was kinda disappointed by KH2,FFXII, Musashi and DoC. Square-Enix has only gotten back in my good graces because of Crisis Core I hope XIII delivers

But honestly this Gen from what Ive seen If you count Persona 4 as a This Gen game (even though being on a Last-Gen system) then Atlus has by far been the Best JRPG devs this year have by Far. However on Current Gen systems from what I've seen ToV and LO are arguably the best we've seen thus far in terms of JRPG So Mistwalker Vs Namco Bandai

(I havent tried WKC but I will)

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

SquareSoft

1. Konami (no question for me)
2. Squaresoft (they were amazing in the PS1 era)
3. Atlus (they are amazing now)
4. Square Enix (they still have some magic...namely Nomura)

SquareEnix is the best and Nintendo (at least as a publisher) is the 2nd best.

As much as I love Atlus, Squaresoft... Enix is third.

there are a lot of JRPGs on handheld systems as well.

If we are counting Squaresoft, I'll list Enix as a separate entity as well and I choose Enix for the DQ series.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Bah SE of course, even if SquareSoft was way better.

After SMT: Nocturne (Lucifer´s Call), DDS, Personas, I must say Atlus.

Intelligent Systems. Also Game Freak. and Camelot. and AlphaDream. I can't choose.

Pixel Art can be fun.

squaresoft, atlus, then square enix in that order. namco bandai has some good stuff (tales of series)
