well i wouldnt be surprised... viewtiful joe, okami, and Z&W got 0 advertisement.
the same might fail for dead rising.
its not the gamers fault, its the fact that they just release games without people knowing

Yes there's a lot of titles like this in my database and a lot of them seem to be Capcom titles haha. I mean I know Dead Rising on 360 is vastly over tracked as Capcom only shipped 1.5 million. And RE4: Wii Edition and RE:UC have sales higher than shipments as well. Then of course Gears of War 1 is another that comes to mind and so forth. I think a lot of it has to do with our tracking many weeks after the game releases. Guess we think too many games are evergreen haha.
| Legend11 said: I think the "mythical legs" of Wii games is really just a myth when it comes to many hardcore third party games like this one. I can see price drops spurring sales but I've seen some Wii hardcore third party games in which the sales months down the line are listed as more than at launch. I can see this when a game is supply constrained or gets a massive amount of press (Wii Fit) but other games like Zack & Wiki it never made any sense. |
I think its a myth for a lot of our games, not just Wii. I mean Dead Rising and Gears of War as I mentioned are 360 games not Wii ones.
And just so people know, I'm not denying that VGChartz may be overtracking. I just have this strong feeling that Sven just likes to talk without really knowing what he is talking about.

if Viewtiful Joe didn't make money, I guess they really liked to lose money with 3 more games, or maybe it started well then the costs really exploded and nobody bought the last ones haha
and I find it funny when he questions "where are the numbers?" like, it almost sounds like he's looking for confidential data that was leaked haha
the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

That is possible but there are other games we have gotten concrete shipment data on and our sales are higher than that such as ones I mentioned: Dead Rising, RE4: Wii edition, Gears of War 1.
Now for this I have no idea. I've always thought Sven is pretty much a hack but that's ok.

because he denies capcoms own press releases on how much their games sold until it is shoved in his face?

Most of that seems to be from Okami stuff albeit there was Z&W articles too.
However, if a Capcom vice president at doing something I can't remember the title of says Zack and Wiki made a loss, then it did. If he says it sold below expectations, then it did.
The past is history, maybe the 'sources' people are citing were incorrect, maybe it was misinterpreted, or maybe just Capcom spin to impress investors goodness knows. The one thing I think you can be sure of is that a Capcom Rep isn't going to say a game was a failure (It made a loss...) if it wasn't. Investors don't like that, yanno?
EDIT: He's the second Capcom guy to say this now btw... after the guy talking about the Dead Rising Port. Capcom being honest or CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE WIIIIII DUN DUN DDEEEEER.

His forum comments aren't really read by the investors. Their official financial reports are.

Companies can't lie in financial reports, it's against the law.
@Jammy: Svensson has been talking whatever comes to his mind before and that does contradict Capcoms other statements sometimes.
@NJ5: I picked up the sales expectations too from the statement. If that really was what they expected, no wonder if the game flopped.
