How much advertising did Z&W get?
After answering that, now answer this - how did they expect it to not fail?
Either way, Sven isn't doing very well to discredit BengaBenga's logic. He can't go into detail (ANY detail at all, not even enough to explain why BengaBenga's "assumptions are way off"), yet he insists we're incorrect and that his company's game was a failure.
Does anybody else see the incredible logical fallacy here?

ok, after re-reading (and following some links), I don't know how much i trust sven. He doesn't even believe the numbers that are quoted from capcom's own press releases on how much Okami Wii sold....

He's not allowed to disclose these figures, he's already given more then he really should. Standard business procedure to be honest.
But yeah, with regards to marketing here's what he said:

Japan's $2M TV campaign for the title in just that territory (e.g. better marketing) did not move the bar. What makes you think that a similar effort in other territories would have had a different effect?
We could have spent more, sold more, but due to that increased spending generated less profit (more loss).
Look at publicly listed publisher financials. Industry standard is a variable marketing spend of between 9-12% of forecasted gross sales. We spend at similar levels (and sometimes above that) on every title we do, in every territory we operate in, including on Z&W.
I think it's interesting when we get something like this, a source citing the success and sales of a game (To any real detail) that isn't a VGC estimate and random estimates on this forum. Feels to me like although this site is a good guide we're really not able to say whether any game was a success or failure. Zack and Wiki was one of the Wii's biggest successes yesterday on here, and now, we know it made a loss.

I agree, Nordlead. Svensson isn't making any sense, and frankly, if he's a vice-president, why isn't he allowed to make decisions for himself?
