Forums - Sales - What sales do you expect for Bioshock (X360) ?

First I want to say that I am sorry if there is already a thread on this but I searched for it and didn't found one.

I hope it will sell 1m because the game deserves it. The game has received very high reviews. But that's no guarantee for good sales. My prediction is only for the X360 because pc sales aren't tracked.

My prediction is that it will take a slow start but it will end high. Because most of the people think you can only play the game when you're a hardcore gamer but it will have slow drops because people will realize through their friends or other sources that it isn't a game only for hardcore gamers. It will have sales like oblivion i think. When i first saw that game I found that it was pretty hardcore but when I played it first I realized that it was possible to play when you are without great skills.

Oblivion sold 250 k in it's first week with an user-base of 2 million users. Bioshock is a new franchise and isn't as well known as Oblivion but the user-base 5 times the size it was at the release of Oblivion and it had a Demo before the release. I don't know if the marketing/hype is big in USA and Canada but I expect it is. So a demo / 5 times the user base but a new franchise. So it is normal I didn't 5 folded the first week sales for oblivion.

380,000 first week.
1,800,000 total USA and Can.
450,000 total Europe.
2,250,000 worldwide.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Wow, I am not big on software numbers but is there even precedent for those kind of WW first week numbers?

To Each Man, Responsibility

Lack of online, the weird atmosphere of the game no clue it could be a FPS Okami or the next Gears. I see Halo killing sales, any one tracking PC sales ?

I used to think Bioshock would be one of those just over a million games that would be forgotten a few months after release, but the first reviews made me think it'll probably outsell all of the curretly available 360 games aside from Gears of War. Not everyone follows the gaming news, but the word-of-mouth should be massive, and this console still has the largest amount of "harcore" gamers that use the net and are into games like this.

Around the Network

300,000 total for first week
2 million total NA

400,000 total Europe

Seriously i have no clue but i like guessing O.o

I reallly really want this to sell well, it sounds like it deserves it

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

60k first week, but it will sell over 750k during its lifetime.

I can see it topping 2 Million in NA. Not sure how the Europe numbers will play. Although I think the atmosphere and literary allusions will help boost the game to 700K plus. Japan will see somewhere between 34 and 42 copies.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I have no idea.

On one hand, I, like many others, have had the game pegged as a greatly reviewed, but poor selling game.

However, from the reports I've seen, they've run out of Bioshock CE's...Totally. No more for sale. That'd indicate strong sellthrough of atleast the CEs.

First week, I think it'll manage 300k, but drop like a rock in the US/Can on the 2nd week, and do around 100k the next week, but continue with strong legs. It does stand a good chance of hitting the 1m mark in the US - a feat I figured would never happen worldwide.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Hrmm, I figure 1.5 million lifetime at best. One of those games that's amazing but will only get a small following. It will become a cult classic and be remembered forever by those who played it, but it's just not the action packed mindless shooter that sells well these days.
