A Link to the Past ASAP!!! Best Zelda game ever.
First "A linik to the past" then "Ocarina of time" then "windwaker"

Improvements are caused by people who complain

OoT is a lesser, 3D version of LttP. Start with the best and then get OoT sometime later.

Quotes to live by!
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing"- Helen Keller
"i am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward"-Thomas Edison
"Man is not the creature of circumstances. Circumstances are the creatures of men"
both are the best of their kind. just pick a dimension.
A link to the past really is the better game, it was one of the first games I fell in love with. But, ultimately, as people have said, you really cant go wrong with either.

actually on second thought, if you really haven't played both, you need to buy a link to the past first, then ocarina of time second so you can play them in chronological order. trust me, you will appreciate ocarina of time much more after playing a link to the past. if you play ocarina first, you appreciate a link to the past a lot less because ocarina of time is much more complex. its hard to play games backwards is what im trying to say. its the best to play zelda 1 first and see how it builds to a link to the past and then to see how that builds into ocarina of time. thats my recommendation.
my favorite zeldas in order:
a link to the past
ocarina of time
links awakening
twilight princess
zelda 1
zelda 2
majoras mask
wind waker
minish cap
oracle games.
If you're picking up both report back to us and tell us which one you think is better.
But if you have to pick one get Oot.
"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."
