Interesting post although ultimately it comes down to preference. I do agree that the PS3 launch price was too high and that by including Blu-ray in every PS3 the playstation brand took a pounding because of the increased price. This led to lower sales and consequently less suport from 3rd parties. Combined with its complex architecture which initially made it very difficult to program for and Microsoft's agressive courting of 3rd parties the PS3 took a serious beating.

Now where I mostly disagree and again it's preference is that the PS3 is a bad console. Although it did have a slow start, right now with the exception of RPG's the PS3 has a decent line up of games which most people enjoy.

I guess because you're a huge RPG fan you are disappointed and annoyed by the PS3, especially after the glory days of the PS1 and PS2 which is understandable.

Looks at it this way though, because the PS3 is getting it's ass handed to it in sales it will force Sony to compete harder and release more games across all genres. And if not right now, in a couple of years when the price is ~$250 you may want to pick it up. In the meantime you have plenty of rpgs to play on the 360 so it's all good.

I thought the entire point of this thread was to discuss why we haven't picked one up yet and not if we'll eventually do it if certain things happen.

That's a fair point. However my post was mostly a reply to Zen so that's why I went off topic somewhat.

Everyone should buy a PS3 just for Valkyria Chronicles. Better yet, just buy Valkyria Chronicles, even if you don't want to get a PS3.

Honestly, it's tempting. Valkyria Chronicles is the main reason I'm interested in the PS3 at all; the game sounds like something I'd love. I might end up buying the game and borrowing a friend's PS3 to play it on. (I did something similar last gen to play the handful of Gamecube exclusives that interested me.)

I don't need to play beyond, when I can play in the now.

that makes no sense.. playing beyond is not time related.

Check out my game about moles ^

The 360 has the best multi plat games. And the only PS3 games that are worth the money are MGS4, VC, WKS, and LBP. The only way i would get a ps3 is if i get it as a gift.

Maybe because most of the interesting games are already on the 360. I mean, most of us would most likely buy a PS3 for the few exclusives that are on the system but we're not rich. I know that a lot of people on this forum are and can just spend that money on the 3 consoles (even for a Wii that collects dust). Unfortunately, we need money for a lot of things other than video games.

Well said Go, very true and fair answer.

And @Ari- I jumped in for SO4 alone, with a few extra exclusives to. so.....huh?

If the 360 didn't exist and the PS3 was available at its current price and game library the PS3 would be a good choice. Problem is that you can get a 360 for $100 less and a comparable (some will say superior) game library so it makes the 360 that much more attractive. Blu Ray, wifi, and free online don't make up the difference for me plus I like the 360 exclusives like Halo 3, Gears 2, Fable 2, GTA4 DLC, Mass Effect etc.

How you finding the 360 experience so far Seraphic? happy you jumped in or you still getting into it?

GO 360!

They lost me the first time at the $600 announcement
They lost me the second time by dropping PS2 BC for the European launch
The third time they lost me to Microsoft for not having JRPGs and no longer having Final Fantasy XIII exclusive while being much more expensive than 360.

Maybe someday I'll play beyond. I have 1 exclusive title I really want; Valkyria. If that number climbs to 5 I'll probably buy one. FFvsXIII will probably be the 2nd, but the other three I don't see anytime soon.
