Does anybody her know if we have to pay to get Windows 7 if we allready have Vista?

Because frankly I don't think we should. I paid for Vista, which is a broken product, and I am not paying them to fix the problem. I think I read somewhere that Microsoft was considering giving it away to Vista owners. If this is not the case I will just keep Vista for gaming and install Linux for everything else.

And yes, I was a bit pissed off when I wrote this:)

Edit: I think maybe it was for Wista buyers after 01.01.2009. Does this sound familiar?

good man you do that let microsoft pay for messing with the costumor power to the people baby !!

Yes, all Windows OSs are retail or DL purchase. (torrents are the exception to this rule) I tried Windows 7 under VirtualBox and I don't like it that much. It seems more Mac like every build and I can't stand the Mac GUI.

Well then it seems I'm just gonna have to get Linux, 'cause Wista is giving me a headache:) And though I usually don't like piracy, I might just consider it this one time. But hey, everybody loves a pirate:)

Ha ha:) True. Ninjas are cooler.

I'm glad that I held out on both Vista and my next gaming rig until Microsoft announced their next OS and I'm pleased that it A) occured so soon and B) is not as resourse intensive as Vista. Too bad that you took the plunge with Vista, to get a legitimate copy of Windows 7 you'll have to pay again which is a travesty. Considering that you have to pay for any customer service calls made to MS, you shouldn't have to pay for the OS up front.

It's July 1, 2009, and only on PCs that qualify (i.e. shop-bought). Otherwise it's at full retail price.

if you are going to choose Linux, I can help you if you have any questions.

...I like Vista...

Why ??!!
