Forums - General - Is your nation powerful?

(1) USA
(2) N/A

(3) Military - most powerful in the world, bases all over the world so lots of exposure to people everywhere. Go Team America World Police!
Economy - Formerly unquestioned world leader, now still world leader but lots of competition. But our competitors depend on Americans buying their stuff, so ...
Culture - Very diverse since people came from all over the place to be here. Our culture is very influential (Hollywood etc.) partly because of economic dominance.
Land - The US straddles the whole North American continent! Any type of land you want to live on, you can find in the USA. Also many natural wonders (Yellowstone, Grand Canyon etc.) and natural resources. The Midwest has a lot of the world's best farmland.
Science and Technology - Much like the economy, it used to be if you wanted to go where the most advancements in science and tech were happening you went to the USA, period. Now we have lots more competition but no one can say they are the "new USA".

(4) No. The USA is like James Bond. Some might hate us or think we're impetuous jerks, but still all the countries want to be US and all the people want to be with US.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

What on Earth gave you that idea?

Well, it's obviously not totally serious and taken literally patently false, but in seriousness many many countries envy the power and wealth and vitality the US has and there is very strong popular desire to be part of that worldwide as immigration pressure proves.

I won't do the UK again so I'll do the country where my Grandparents come from:

1) Russia

2) Not popular in the western world, but very famous and powerful.

3)

-Played the largest role in the defeat of Germany in WW2

-first man in space came from Russia

-invented communism and marxism which many of the largest countries in the world (China) still use to this day

-detonated the largest ever atom bomb Царь-бомба

-had one of the most powerful empires in history

-has the highest number of billionaires after USA

-leading oil/gas provider for the EU

-world class gymnasts, dancers and tennis players come from Russia such as Мари́я Шара́пова (Sharapova), Анна Ку́рникова (Kournikova).

-famous composers such as Пётр Чайковский (Tchaikovsky)

-USA is still wary of Russia to this day as seen by the Polish missile 'defense' system

4) I live in the UK which is powerful and respected enough for me. I would never want to live in the US, but I would like to live in continental Europe.

London. Finacial Capital of the World. Most multi-cultural city in the world.

Say what?

As for financial capital, I'd say it's about equal with a couple others but it's arguable either way.

I read an article about it. I will try and find it.

For financial capital of the world, I watch a TV programme about it. Just recently (under New Labour/Tony Blair/Gordon Brown) London overtook New York as financial capital of the world. Although I don't know how these things are decided.

I live in a bankrupt rock in a decaying country with fast eroding morals, failing education system, incompetent government too many bloody immigrants. It is not powerful in any way, it is famous for things it no longer has (like manners and politeness), I would rather live in a junkyard in argentina than here in this urine soaked hell-hole depressing miserable excuse for a nation.

Haven't you heard that Daily Mail readers are banned from the internet?

I loved NintendoMan's eruption lol.

Where would you like to live instead then? Because what you've just wrote counts out pretty much every western country in the world. Have fun in Mozambique, I guess. Oh, and-

Stop reading it.

1. Finland
2. It depends. On nordic country scale we have bigger army unit wise than other nordic countries put together but that is mainly because we live next to russia and we have had some hard times with them in history =)
3.
- Great military history. Hakkapelitas were legendary units among swedish army and we put hard resistance against soviet union in two wars. Biggest amy in Nordic countries
- Pretty good at sports (motor and winter)
- Some famous people like Kimi Räikkönen, Martti Ahtisaari etc.
- One very high quality game developer. Remedy (current project is Alan Wake)
- Worlds biggest cell phone company (Nokia) and almost only competitor for MS (Linux) comes from Finland.
4. I am happy here. =)

^ Alan Wake deserves a lot of respect. GOTY 2009!
