Forums - Gaming - games from japan

hey whats up. a few minutes ago, i was reading the forum about why japan rejects western games and it got me wondering if it is safe to assume that the majority of games coming from japan are rpg's or similar.  i don't have anything against it and i know that there are many non-rpg's made there but does it seems like there is less genre variety in that country.  just opinion, no flaming please cause it is just annoying.

Around the Network

square enix makes mostly RPGs. capcom makes a wide variety of games, but no rpgs (that i can remember off the top of my head.) nintendo makes tons of games, and has 2 rpg series (pokemon and fire emblem.)
konami has no big rpg series (that i can remember again.)

really, its just square that makes a lot of rpgs. they just happen to be the most popular at this point.

^Konami has Suikoden, it has a good following in this site, so it isn't that small.

I'd say japanese games are more diverse than western games when it comes to genres. There's everything from platformer to adventure to RPG to racer to sport to puzzle etc. etc.
