Well, you missed the point of his objection, but someone earlier pointed out that you can indeed replace the rechargeable battery in the PS3 controller, and even without voiding warranty.

1. How's that working for Sony? Did the PS2 make that much money after 2006?
2. It's not Nintendo's way. A closed platform seems to be making them money.
3. Yes
4. What? Increase costs, lose compatibility, dilute the purpose of the machine and adopt a generally unused technology? Are they crazy?
5. Again, diluting the purpose of the console means you lose money.
6. See 5.

I get the point of buying rechargeable batteries. but the idea of buying the charger and then the batteries that makes me want to be a cheapskate. I just like being able to plug my controller in and not worry about having to change the batteries out.

Like someone said before you can't play with the Wii mote too well if you have it plugged in. Buy either the 1 hour or 10 minute charger and buy rechargable batteries for it. Simple as that and you can actually put those batteries in something like a tv remote or other things instead of one controller. I bought rechargable batteries/charger back during GCN days (wavebird). Sure I had to replace my batteries with newer ones but I had them for about 3-4 years ago before needing replacing.
2/4/5/6 and arguably 1 are terrible reasons. For one, why would i want a media console when i have other things that can do each thing better? I don't want to have to pay extra for a console. Plus i can do most of the things because i have homebrew.

1 is the worst of the bunch

This list is exactly why nobody wants/buys that fat lady which is called PS3.
It's more fun to play cheaply n dirty.
there is no such thing as future proof
so you were writing fail from the start

This is what I do with my 360 and Wii, decent rechargeable batteries are cheap and are always ready when you need them!
My 360 control lasts a good month (playing it for 3+ hours daily) on two AA rechargeable Duracell batteries.
| HappySqurriel said: 1) At the end of 2010 the PS3's capabilities will be similar to what the Wii's capabilities were at the end of 2006 (when it launched). 2) Doesn't the Wii have far more downloadable games than the PS3? 3) It may be annoying to have to replace batteries for your controller, but it is equally annoying to have to wait hours to play a game because your controller battery has no charge ... On top of that, modern batteries have a life-span associated with them and replacing all your controllers every 3 to 4 years is pretty annoying too. 4) Probably will happen in the next generation anyways, when adding a Blu-Ray drive is as inexpensive as adding a DVD drive was in the current generation of consoles. 5) Not a bad idea, but I think videogame consoles should focus on adding features which improve videogames 6) Wouldn't this be something Nintendo and Microsoft copied from Microsoft? Beyond that hard-drives are amazingly expensive devices which don't see much in the way of cost reductions. It makes far more sense for companies to copy Nintendo's approach with the Wii in this generation and include flash memory as a standard being that 100GB+ of flash memory in the next generation will be very inexpensive. |
2. It's not about how many, it's size.
3. I agree with you on not replacing em, but battery packs are the way to go, and you can play and charge simultaneously.
6. Are you insane? Nintendos storage solution is a fucking joke, it's something that drives me insane. If they all do that next gen, im PC only.
Wii without motion control is horrendously designed, end of story. No motion, no way I bought one.
