Forums - Gaming - Six Things Microsoft and Nintendo Should Steal from Sony

The only one I agree with is point 2... and even then it's not much of a point because I don't want to have to buy huge full sized games online like that.... although if it means there is an option (like GT5P or Warkawk) then it is a good feature.

Numbers 3 and 6 are useless to me, especially Sony's irreplacable recharchable batteries, for which you need a new controller if they fail.

And numbers 1, 4 and 5 are turn-offs... 1 and 4 because they would have increased the console price above my spending power, and 5 because I don't want to pay for things I already have better versions of right next to my TV.

3) It may be annoying to have to replace batteries for your controller, but it is equally annoying to have to wait hours to play a game because your controller battery has no charge ... On top of that, modern batteries have a life-span associated with them and replacing all your controllers every 3 to 4 years is pretty annoying too.

I agree with everything else you said but this is way off. You can play while your controller is charging so their is no wait associated with this. You also don't have to replace your controller when the rechargeable battery is dead/wont hold a charge. It is replaceable and opening the controller to replace the battery($5-10 depending on shop) doesn't even void the warranty as some would expect. I think the controller is the 1 thing Sony did right this gen without any major faults, but that doesnt say very much. The only thing I dislike is the discontinued Sixaxis. Sometimes I prefer a lightweight controller and no shock so I like having both.

As for the OP, that list is a joke right?

You might be able to play with the PS3 controller while it was plugged in, but I doubt that you could with the Wiimote

oh true, forgot about the wii mote.  My mistake.  In this case the standard issue batteries = win.

I just agree on the rechargable batteries thing

I am very lazy n can't be bothered to keep a stock on batteries.

the rest....I dunno weren't they the mistakes that got SONY in 3rd place..or 2nd place by the end of the gen

That's not true. The owner's manual even explains how to replace the battery should it fail. The rechargeable battery lasts roughly 1.5 years before it starts to lose charge fast.  Still have my release sixaxis and replaced the battery in october for $6.99 from a battery shop.

@Bboid

well done!

{pssssst....I dint know that lol}

@Bhoid actually Sony said if the battery in the controller dies they will replace it for free, so you wouldn't need to open it up and replace the battery

And @Spectrumgir

Yeh they run out pretty quick I thought it was the controller broke or something but he got a second one at wal-mart and it did the same, but it's true they run out fast for him, I don't think he plays it that much but everytime I go there and we play the Xbox 360 either one of are controllers always runs out of batteries, I recommened him to buy one of those rechargeble batteries with a charger but I dont no.

Perhaps they should make it a little more obvious that you can change the battery in the controller then.

Still, I prefer the rechargables I have, £7 for 4 and they can keep their charge for a long time so I can just swap them between each other (charge one while the others are in)

Please people don't buy new batteries for your Wii/360 as soon as they run out... It's cheaper, more efficient and environmentally friendly to use rechargeable batteries.

You can buy a charger including 4 batteries for very cheap, or you can pay a bit more if you want more quality.

The only item in your list that is worthy would be having the rechargeable batteries in the controllers. But I bought rechargeable ones anyway so its not that big of a deal. I bought 4 reachargeable AA batteries and when 2 of mine lose power i just switch out and recharge. So I always have power.

The rest of the items on your list is in fact the reason Sony is in 3rd place this gen. I am fairly certain, M$ and Nintendo are happy they didn't make such mistakes.
