Forums - Gaming - Xbox 360 game lineup for 2009, it seems beyond impressive

Did you just rank Too human over Bioshock, Twilight Princess, Dead Space, Ninja Gaiden 2, Blue Dragon, and GEARS OF WAR 2!?

Run. RUN!

Around the Network

Bioshock as a game was very bad for me, i loved the atmosphere, that is why it is in my list

Zelda is there only because of respect, i hated the game, it felt like replaying an old game, that is it

Dead Space was great, one of my best shooters, that is why i have it above the boring Gears 2 too, but shooters are the last games in my list because i am a RPG gamer, i generally do nto like shooters, especially the very linear ones

Blue Dragon was great, but Too Human was more addicitive and fun to play, so why not choose it over BD ?

As for Gears 2, give me a break, it had its moments alright, other than those was a linear boredom, if it had no monters would not even make my top100 games list

Remember, that is my list, the games i enjoy best, so don't judge it by your own preferences

Every game on that list that I want is multi-platform. The only exclusive there that interests me is Halo Wars.

No interest in Star Ocean 4 at all ?

Also many gamers only have a 360, and many of those games are are either on PC or PS3, so you would have to buy both a PC and a PS3 to play them, when you can have them all on 360 with just one system and the lowest price imaginable

"He is lost in silence...he can not hear our music" ... familiar ? Mass Effect 2 rings a bell? It`s in winter 2009 and a massive game. Don`t tell me it will be on Pc because you don`t know. Want to play Alan Wake on the Pc? Please do...install Vista and play...no? I thought so.

Star Ocean 4 ? Race Pro ? Halo Wars ? Forza 3 ? Ninja Blade ? Halo Chronicles ? New Rare game? Nothing interesting?

Oh well...move along people, nothing to see here...

I'm not a big fan of modern JRPGs, especially SE. So no, I'm not interested in SO4... at all. The first Mass Effect was good despite its flaws but the sequel will make it to the PC sooner or later. Race Pro and Forza 3? I hate most racing games, especially racing sims. Halo Wars looks good but I'm always skeptical as to how an RTS will turn out on a console due to the limited controls. Ninja Blade? From Software has hardly blown me away in the past. Rare, they hardly produce system sellers. I'm dismissive of the 360's library because it simply isn't very impressive. It being perceived as being superior to that of the PS3 is hardly an accomplishment. Compare that list what I want for the PC this year:

Battle Forge
Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams
Borderlands
Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor
Dawn of War II
Empire: Total War
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising
Prototype
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.

I was hardly being thorough when I compiled this list, I could probably find more.

Edit: Here are a few that I just added to my wishlist after browsing a single site.

Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment
World in Conflict: Soviet Assault
Diablo 3
Storm of War: Battle of Britain
Gish 2
They Hunger: Lost Souls
Dragon Age
Beyond Good & Evil 2
Zeno Clash
Alpha Protocol
Stormrise
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
Subversion

This is why the $200 cost for a 360 is better spent on a video card and some RAM. Using Tigerdirect.ca I'm getting 4 gigs of Dual Channel DDR2 RAM and a Geforce 9800 GT for 150 Canadian dollars. With this upgrade my PC can utterly crush the 360 (and PS3) in terms of performance.

Newegg.com is way cheaper than tiger at least for me in the US. but anyway the list is very great cant wait for alan wake and mass effect 2. my standpoint I used to be a PC/nintendo gamer I would upgrade my PC every 2 years and replace every 4 years. I can say that if you have a pc powerful enough to play those game then is a no brainer, buy them for PC but if your like me (i gave up PC gaming because it was just to expensive) and only use your pc for Starcraft and internet a 360 is much cheaper. I mean everything you need to have the best 360 experance you still spend less than you would to build or buy a gaming PC and it will be usable without an upgrade for a long time compared to a pc.

Good lineup, but I don't think its better than 2008 mainly because of a huge number of PC multiplats.

Well, most console gamers do not have a gaming PC, in fact i doubt even 2-3% has such a PC, so the 360 is like gaming heaven for all those and PS3 gamers than want PC games for just 199$

That is the magic of 360, i can get the best of PS3 (Final Fantasy 13, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 5 etc), PC (Alan Wake, KUF2, Mass Effect 1-2, Two Worlds Temptation, Venetica, Divinity 2, Dragon Age, Witcher, Risen etc) and xbox360 (Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, Gears 2, Banjo 3, Viva Pinata 2, Star Ocean 4, Halo Wars, Halo 3, Black Legion, Kameo, new Rareware-Lionhead-Mistwalker games, Magna Carta 2 etc)

And all that for just 199$

I hardly believe that only 2-3% of Xbox 360 owners play PC games, especially considering PC had over 260 millions gamers in 2007.

While Xbox 360 is getting games that otherwise would've been exclusive to PS3 or PC, the PS3 is also getting a few that would've been Xbox 360 only. On the other hand, PC is getting nearly all of Xbox 360's best games, while X360 is getting but a fraction of PC's best.

And it's not just $200, is it? There's XBLG that you need to get if you intend to play any online game, and the games are also more expensive than the PC gets.

I would argue that with the used game market and the fact that purchased games on the consoles actually have resell value it helps alot with the expense on consoles. You're also completely disregarding the rental market on consoles and the fact that a lot of games that while worth playing don't really warrant spending the money on to keep forever.  The $10 "HD console tax" to be frank is completely irrelevant IMO.

That's the same thing as saying that PC gamers can download PC games illegally. Also, PC games drop price way faster than console games, and they give you more bang for the buck through mods and such.

And it's not just $10 difference. NBA 2k9, for example came out for PC at only $20, while the console versions were $60!! There are other multiplat games that are $20 cheaper on PC compared to consoles'.

For $500 you can get a PC that will run games better than a X360 ever could. Add to the fact that PC gaming is cheaper because PC games are cheaper and have mods, and you don't have to pay to play online (unlike X360). Also PC has far more and better games than Xbox 360.

X360 is better for what YOU want, because for big RPG fans the PC is the best platform. PC offers the most amount of RPGs, the best RPGs and the most variety.

Also, about The Witcher: HAH! You keep the fancy graphics, while I keep the better gameplay and awesome mods.

A very solid lineup, heavy on the RPGs. Which of those titles will really stand out, though? Which will be the big 360 game of 09? The kind to sit on the level with Gears, Gears 2, or Halo 3 (or Brawl or MGS4 or Super Mario Galaxy if we go outside Microsoft's scope)

I see a lot of great games, but nothing that's going to really set the world on fire, but if you can see something, please, point it out

 Crackdown 2 ? Ninte-Nine Nights 2 ?

GTA 4 episode 1 and 2 ?

Anyway, wait till E3 2009... in June I think... MS is not like Sony and doesn`t show it`s games with 1 or 2 years in advanced. Maybe then something interesting (for you) will come for the 360.

I`m not buying/installing Vista for Alan Wake, I`ll enjoy The Lost and the Damned,Race Pro,Ninja Blade,Gears 2,Mass Effect 2 and many more, all at the low price of 199. Thanks MS !

Too Human, Alan Wake, Halo Wars, GTA Exclusive DLC...   Yeah, Microsoft has a history of keeping things close to the vest.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Now that Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell and Crackdown 2 may not be out this year, MS will have to suddenly pull 10 incredible games out of their backside and release them before the end of the year to compete with Sony. Just my honest opinion.

Well said. They are just like Sony, they revealed Halo Wars, Too Humane, Fable 2, Alan Wake, GTA4 DLC, Splinter Cell etc all years in advance. And all they revealed at last years E3 was Lips and Scene It. MS have never revealed any great games at E3 and released them in the same year. But Microsoft's fanboys just don't realise that for some reason.
