Forums - Nintendo - How do I set my Wii to display at 480p?

Hi, guys

I just got a nice new 32" Sharp 1080p TV.  Well, I got it about a month ago but haven't been playing too many games outside of World of Goo and some WiiWare.  I was bored tonight, so I thought I'd pop in Twilight Princess and start a new game.  It looks better than I remember it, but I was wondering--does it automatically display at the highest resolution on a compatible TV, does my TV need to be on a certain setting, or do I need a special Wii HD cable?

Thanks

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I thought it automatically did 480p. But I'm not sure now.

You need component cables, once connected, go to your Wii settings, look fot display settings and turn it 480p from there, and make sure that you have wide screen enable too. This message brought to you by me typing on my PS3 controller.

Thanks, Happy_Man

I'll have to get out and find some component cables soon--does anyone know if they're easy to find?

Yeah any electronics store should have em. A Dollar Store might too. Don't worry about the connection on the tips (gold etc) it is all marketing BS.

I got some easily.

It makes the sound hella better.

The colors and image crispness will improve quite a bit, as well. MP3 for example, looks stellar with them.

I had to use my HDMI port on my tv for a new cable box, which forced me to go back to 480i, and man, it's really, really noticeable after you get used to having it.

Don't waste your money anywhere else. Works just as great.

Go to wii settings, screens, resoultion and pick "EDTV/HDTV 480p" and click ok.
