Forums - Sales - Wii exclusive Mario Power Tennis hits #1 on Amazon's pre-order list

OMG Wii has 3 times the userbase of the PS3. Spin much? Or do you really think Mario Power Tennis is game of the year potential like RES 5 and Killzone 2?

That shows a lack of understanding of how userbase works when it comes to purchase behavior.

A larger userbase makes more games successful rather then make some games super successful since the more diverse the userbase gets the more diverse it's tastes are.

As for GOTY potential, of course not it's a port and the critical system is broken anyway.

Amazon stats are useless for the most part, especially pre-orders.

lol. The Pikmin Wii-make is right up there, too.

Like I've said many times on these forums, Amazon is not a reliable metric for the popularity of a game.

That said, this is completely unexpected--are there any special deals going on there with regard to MPT?

Mario Tennis Leads in Japan

Wiimake tops charts in first week; Animal Crossing DS tops five million.
January 23, 2009 - Nintendo Japan's huge television marketing push for the New Play Control version of Mario Power Tennis appears to have been effective. Just released in Japan, the title placed first on Media Create's Japanese sales charts for the week covering January 12 to January 18.
Play on Wii: Mario Power Tennis (Nintendo, Wii): 56,509

Why preorder on Amazon and wait for your game to come in the mail when you can hop down to your local electronic store to get your games (most people do this).

I am not preordering KZ 2 or RE 5. I am just walking straight up to best buy on launch day and walking out with it.

That's neat--I didn't know Nintendo was already pushing the game so much.

That said, it changes nothing--the game may or may not sell more than KZ2 (no comment), but Amazon isn't a reliable metric.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

That is fucking hilarious

I haven't pre-ordered MPT yet but it'll be the first game I've bought in a while

Reasons why I preorder on Amazon:

1) usually don't have time to stop at the store(unless the capital beltway is hella gridlocked and I pull into the mall to kill time) and remember release days

2) Amazon preorders are almost always lower than retail price and they have a price lock-in gaurantee

3) Rarely you get the item in the mail before release (only twice has this happened and it was just 1 day early)

4) it's nice to get good mail!

That's just why I preorder, but I only preorder games that will likely sellout before I have a chance to get to the store.

Think of the baby seals!

Former something....

Thekitchensink, Fishyjoe, you are right, Amazon don´t make any metric for games popularity, they just use the most beliavle data: pre-ordered sales. But anyway, preorders don´t determinate who´s better, but are the only certain data previous release dates.

NYANKS, just remember pre-orders for Mario Kart, Wiifit, Wiiplay, Super Smash Brothers... Pre-orders are not definitive sales-data, just a preview. And many of Wii-owners are new public, never played Mario Tennis on GC and loves nintendo tittles, ¿what will happen?

Wiintendo, i´m more interested in Pikmin because i don´t play anyone the past gen, THANK FOR THE FULL LIST.
