Forums - Website Topics - Banning... for siglenth?

Give me a break

I just noticed that Garnett is banned for "SIGLENGTH".  Now. his siglength is a little long, but it's far less annoying than MANy other sigs with flashing and animated pics etc.....

If you want to set a limit, then disallow longer than x chars and just limit it in the program.

But FFS. Don't ban for it!

agreed. But some peopel do take advantage.

There is a rule, they get warned MULTIPLE times. If they ignore it, they get banned. It isn't that hard to understand.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I'm sure he was warned many times before he got his ban. DKII warned me anyway ...

People are only banned for siglength after being warned repeatedly. So, its not like these people havent had prior warning

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Rules are Rules. Life would be much easier for people if they just understood this simple concept.

just set a limit in the code.

Banning for it is dumber than dumb.

Even better would be an option for users to view/not view sigs at all.

Or to hide sigs until you "mouse" over them.

The problem, is there are only 2 coders on this website, and 1 of them has to put numbers together every week. Neither of them get paid, and there are a lot better things they could be spending their time fixing on this website.

Even if you say that doing this is a "small" task, I've got 20 "small" tasks that are a lot more important that I still haven't convinced pat or brett to fix. Again, each person is given multiple warnings, and they only get warnings if someone complains about the sig.

Also, we have an option to view/not view sigs. Look in your profile settings.

When the "siglength" ban was announced, the length of the sig allowed depended on how long posts do you make, if i recall. One line post and huge sig is really waste of space and bandwidth.

I agree with nordlead, some people do try to cross the line with some stuff here on vgchartz. I mean we should appreciate the priviledges we have on this site. We should not take advantage of it and at the same time, follow the rules that are on this site but it depends on what the rules are and how much it limits our freedom on this site.
