In KZ2 vs the next FPS Halo, almost everyone said KZ2 will be outsold by the next Halo FPS.  In that, I was told I needed to be more balanced in how I asked.  So, I will do this here.

Both games are due out around the same time.  They are different genres.  However, it is likely both are about the same importance to both companies.  So, in light of this, I ask, which one will sell more, and by how much?

Wait, what? They come out at the same time?

Isn't Killzone 2 February, and Halo 3: ODST October/November/December? I'm pretty positive about that.

On Topic: I really don't know about this one. If I'd choose one though I would have to go with Halo Wars just because of the name.

KZ2: ~700k WW first week

Halo: Wars:  ~800k first week (Complete guess, I really don't know what to expect from this game in terms of sales)

I was asking about Killzone 2 vs Halo Wars not Killzone 2 vs ODST.  The other thread on ODST had people saying ODST would outsell Killzone 2.  This thread is about KZ2 vs Hallo Wars.  Halo Wars the RTS, and KZ2 the FPS.

Halo: ODST will appear late in 2009. Halo Wars is released end of February/ first week of March 2009. Halo Wars could match or outsell Kill Zone 2 in game sales. Having Halo in the games title will help sales significantly and combined with XBox 360's 8 million + install base over PS3 should help game sales of Halo Wars.

Halo Wars will sell around 200k first week

KZ will sell around 600k first week.

M$ doesn't even think that Halo Wars will be a huge seller. If they thought it would sell on name alone, they would not release a demo. They didn't with Gears 2 and they didn't with any of the Halos (not withstanding the Crackdown beta). Console RTS is a much more difficult sell.

KZ2 will sell a lot more, unless halo-name is bigger than I think it is. ;P

Halo Wars will sell better because it's very frontloaded (remember 4 million people bought Halo 3 first week) but Killzone 2 will win in the long run.

Halo Wars - 1st week: 750,000. Lifetime: 2.6 million
Killzone 2 - 1st week: 650,000. Lifetime: 2.9 million

Hmm it will be interesing to see. I'd say kz2 because every shooter lover on ps3 will get it and every ps3 fanboy will get it, oh and every player which loves great graphics. Only positive things about halo wars in my opinion is that it has halo in its title and rts fans will enjoy it (are there even any rts fans on console?). I bet lots of halo fans will buy halo wars and return it and be like wtf that is crap?
