So they are loosing some 60 dollars for every 80gb sold? Good news for them then.
Looks like they are on track to being profitable by the time they replace the internals with the smaller chipsets, sometime in March I believe.

Wow thats good and gone down fast aswell considering it started out at about $800 so they could lower the price of the 80GB to $399 if they dont mind losing $200 per unit again which i think they will do in March08 because March is the typical time for a PS pricecut.

ohh they mind, price cut will come with the smaller Cell and RSX which should be early 08.
That means they are making money on the consoles sold in Europe since the EU transfer rate is higher then $640 US dollars.
The loss in Japan though is still more then $40-$140 since they have the PS3's the cheapest.

So the next pricecut will come just before MGS4 releases that will spur sales quite well.

WTH, they are claiming $45 for a HD????
I expect sony to be getting far better rates than average consumers on those. Am I missing something here?

Yes they are making a profit in the UK(here) quite a nice profit too £80 which is $160 so that covers the losses of 3 PS3 sold in the US and in the rest of EU they are about breaking even point.
