I'm using my Wii again!

PRO TIP:
Even when it's off -- and it's almost always off -- the Wii will charge a PS3 controller via one of the console's rear USB slots.

You should congratulate me. I destroyed the vile red falcon and saved the universe. I consider myself a hero.

yea, I do that to since the stupid PS3 won't charge the controller unless I have it on drawing 100W/hr

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I tried to charge my Dualshock 3 with my 360, but it didn't work :(

Of course he couldn't resist taking a "Wii collecting dust" jab :P

If I didn't use one of my consoles, I would probably sell it. Much better than going around in forums flaunting the fact that I don't know how to spend money.

according to these graphs (mind you, they have launch versions of the PS3, so power savings may have been introduced), the wii uses ~160W less than the PS3 while charging the controller. Eventually, it would pay for itself, especially if you left your PS3 on 24hr/day so you could conveniently charge your controller (like some people I know do)

So it would repay for itself in 1.25 years

Thank you. I'll go turn off my PS3 and turn on my Wii right now.

I figured this out back when I first got my PS3 and Wii. It is indeed probably the most use I get out of my Wii. I also use it to charge my cell phone.

And to be pedantic, technically the Wii has to be in standby mode for this to work. If it is truly off (red light) it will not charge. If it is in standby (amber light) it will work.

I either plug it in with a USB extension to I can charge and play games or I simply plug it into my PC. Then there's the added bonus of the PC usb drivers for the controller for emulation and what not.
