Forums - Microsoft - Splinter Cell Conviction remains 360 exclusive

Nothing has changed since it was originally announced.


Speaking during a conference call following the company's third-quarter financial report, Ubisoft has re-confirmed that Splinter Cell Conviction will be an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Sam Fisher's highly anticipated and somewhat delayed next outing was announced as an Xbox 360 and Games for Windows exclusive back at X06 in September 2006, but after reports of development problems and a perpetually slipping release date Ubisoft went quiet on the game.

Today the publisher confirmed that the game is due for release in the 12-month period starting April 1, 2009. If you don't own an Xbox 360 and were hoping the delays were down to a new multi-format development strategy, you're sadly still out of luck.

That kind of surprises me given the current economic climate, but at least I know I'll still be able to play it.  Hopefully it makes it during the portion of that 12-month period because I do not want to wait over a year to play it.

Good for Microsoft--they need their own big stealth game. PS3 has MGS4, Wii has Tenchu 4, 360 has Splinter Cell 5.

holy cow another year before this comes out? this has to go multiplat only because i cant believe it would take this long otherwise (mostly because the 360 is the 'easy' to develop for system)

They revamped the whole gameplay cause it was too similar (some sources actually say "inferior") to Assassins Creed's gameplay.

This will be a big game for the 360.

ah now that makes sense. going back to the drawing board could cause this. now i believe it could remain exclusive.

It's not guaranteed that it will be a full year, the article said during the 12 months starting April 1, meaning we could see it out this summer.  I'm thinking a holiday release is most likely, but that's just my gut feeling.
