What do you mean by best? The IP I think that has influenced gaming the most or my favorite?

Since you picked Shadow of the Colossus, I would assume favorite. In which case I pick Metroid and Dragon Quest. Which I suppose one of those has been one of the most influential series in gaming history.

The legend of zelda!!! but then its a tough one betwene the Age of Empires series. Ensemble yoused to make awesome games! shame on you microsoft for disbanding that team!

well the greatest IP will be what IP youve enjoyed the most, in my case its 1000% hands down phantasy star online on DC GC and phantasy star universe on 360.

talking in the overall popular IP stakes. its a no brainer that its mario bros.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
