Zelda for the win

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

@Gilgamesh, IP stands for Intellectual Property.

Basically, it means the main series and all the spinoff series, everything set in that world, with those characters.

So when people say it's a new IP, it means it's not a licensed product or a spinoff or a sequel. It's a new game set in a new world.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

@LargeDarryl - Having my router give me that and actually having that to the world are two very different things...

Around the Network

The Zelda, Metroid, & Mario main series have always been fantastic on the Nintendo side. Nothing much to comment on past that.

On the Sony side of things, God of War, Gran Turismo, and Metal Gear Solid (well... it's Konami) continue to satisfy the hunger of many a PlayStation fan.

For Microsoft, Halo continues to scratch that itchy trigger finger and Gears of War has created a new layer for their console.

And for third parties, titles such as Final Fantasy and Resident Evil continue to turn heads.

2D Sonic has been great as well (even going into the Sonic Advance and Sonic Rush series). When it comes to 3D... eh...

But all fail compared to the greatest IP in the history of video games. With the release of Brett, it is clear to which series can continue in sheer awesome-sauce.

*raises goblet*

May the sun continue to shine on this Series of teh Evar!

I second this.

4 ≈ One

Either Mario or Zelda.

Or Opoona.

Final Fantasy.

Each game it's practically a completely new game, from battle system, music, character design, story, etc- with high budget and awesome designs.

I'd have to jump on the Shadow of the Collosus' bandwagon.

It provides an experience no game before or after has been able to duplicate. Just an incredible game all-around.
