Ok so here's the thing.

I got The Last Remnant used for 20 Euros, and i love it so far. Only problem is, there's no manual. So i've got a couple of questions.

1) In the battle menu, there are options like Attack with Mystic/Combat/Recovery/Item arts. The thing is, i can't choose which spell, skill or item to use. It just randomly chooses one for me. For example i choose Attack with Combat arts and i want to use Smash, but it uses Knee Splitter (or whatever it's called, i can't really read it on my parents 14" SDTV). Am i doing something wrong?

2) When i choose to attack with combat arts (or any other art for that matter) only one of the units uses a skill, the rest just use regular attack, and i can't even choose which unit to do the skill. Again, am i doing something wrong?

3) When i see an enemy and i want to engage in battle, i just hit the right trigger when it's close to me. If i don't do it i get an Enemy advantage screen. Is there a way to get a Player advantage screen or something? I couldn't read the freaking tutorials because of the damn small font that's used so when it told me to hit a certain button to engage in battle i just tried them all.

By the way, the game is really fun and not that big of a technical mess that reviews make it seem. In fact, it's the most addictive and fun JRPG i've played this gen.

Regarding #1 and 2, you're not doing anything wrong. That's how the battle system works.

As for #3: after hundreds of battles, I've never gotten a surprise attack that worked in my favor. I don't think it's possible to do so.

Your not doing anything wrong. The game uses an advanced gambit system from Final Fantasy XII. You cannot select the specific commands. Each union will be presented with 5 options based on the gambit configurations. It's both a flaw and a blessing.

2) When i choose to attack with combat arts (or any other art for that matter) only one of the units uses a skill, the rest just use regular attack, and i can't even choose which unit to do the skill. Again, am i doing something wrong?

The system will pick a certain number of arts based on enemy types, as well as cumulative AP available for your party. If your low on AP, it will only use a few attacks.

I haven't seen a specific 'player advantage' screen in my 30hrs. You can, however, get some bonuses if the enemies are very weak (a morale bonus).

By the way, the game is really fun and not that big of a technical mess that reviews make it seem. In fact, it's the most addictive and fun JRPG i've played this gen.

Hope you enjoy it. It's a great game. If at all possible, I highly reccomend that you download it to your HDD via NXE. It improves the technical side of the game by leaps & bounds.

I am enjoying it a lot, it's the first game i literally can't stop playing.

Sadly, i have an Arcade 360... so no HDD, also no NXE and no Xbox Live. Still, i don't find the technical side of the game all that bad. I mean, yeah, it IS bad. But i don't mind the texture pop-in at all, or the framerate drops since it's amazing gameplay wise.
