And what was with when (wierd sentence there) Locke say that old guy in the chair he thought was Jacob who whispered "help me" or something? Hmmm.

I'm going back to IMDb for more answers.

See theres your problem, Go here for answers. http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Its thorough and detailed with plenty of discussion regarding the show. Especially the incident bcoz it really twisted everything we have seen so far.

I remember on IGN they had a snapshot of Jacob in the cabin. Just a shadow though, but the figure clearly had a beard. I'll try and find the picture

Edit:

Not as clear as I remember but the shirt and hair seem to indicate that it's the black-haired guy

^^ in the last eppisode... the (new) others came across the cabin and said that "Jacob is not here, someone else was using it" so Jacob was never in the cabin

Well I assume he was in there at some point, didn't he put that map on the wall? If not we have a mysterious invisible guy in an abandon cabon that wanted Locke's help, ho boy.

Hmm, that makes sense, but I'm not completely sold on Esau and Smokey being the same people...

I haven't been posting here all season, because I watch in the UK, so I am 4 days behind, but this is the greatest show ever!

Just a few observations

It seems that the show is destiny vs free will. At the start of the episode, when they are talking about the people on the black rock (one of whom most be Alpert), he talks about how they are always corrupted by the island. Here, this is a case of destiny, and the evil guy is trying to break that, with his loophole and kill Jacob.

The evil guy, who I think is smoky, has somehow caused the loop, where people come to the island, and are corrupted, then die repeats. However, something has changed that. It is not the nuke, that always happened, as shown by the radiation that Sayid found in the Swan, but it must be Locke coming back, and I think it was Hawking's role (unwittingly) in trying to repeat all the original conditions, but with one slight problem. I believe that the monster somehow chose Locke at birth. That is why he drew the smoke monster when he was young, and then why he blew up the sub and the flame. I know it does not make sense, but its the best I've got

Oh, and about the guy in the cabin, they had not properly cast the part then, I don't think that guy is the right person, though I believe it was a physical manifestation of the smoke monster

Okay, I found this thread, and am definitely warming to that theory, lol

Munkeh is right, Esau def. set up to use Locke at birth although this was bcoz Locke told Alpert to see him when he's born, remember. Maybe Alpert is the bad guy, working for Esau instead of Jacob.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Something that maybe other Losties would enjoy is the Lost blog in Zap2it's website. The writer, Ryan is good and funny.

Also he had been talking about being an enemy of Jacob long long before there was a season 5, because of the 2 different Christians that appeared.
